Steering Wheel removal

Hello,

I'm trying to remove the steering wheel, i got to the part where i need to jiggle and wiggle and pull the wheel toward me, but nothing is happening. I used a lot of force but nothing is happening.....

Remove negative terminal from battery
There is two small screws from the rear to remove and pop out the air bag and disconnect the cables under it
Remove the single nut holding the wheel on
Slide the seat forward a bit
Put both feet on the firewall and push back like your life depends on it while grabbing either side of the wheel with your hands and pull it towards you with every bit of strength you have
Wiggle it a bit while doing it
It will eventually come off
It's held on super strong
I dunno about you
But that's how I like my steering wheel to be held on

Leave the big nut on the steering column a couple of turns,so you don't break your nose when it comes loose.There may be two tapped holes either side of the steering shaft so you can use a puller.

Speaking of steering wheels, does anyone know if the newer design ASX wheel (roughly 2012) is a direct plug n play with the lancer wheel??

I haven't tried, one way to find out though. You could Goto a wrecking yard with some tools and talk to them and see if they have one and do a test fit on your vehicle.
There's a good chance the diameter of the shaft and the splines are a match.
I wouldn't say no to one of the new Mitsubishi Triton steering wheel. They are very nice. I will add that to the projects list

I just had a thought
I forgot to measure the diameter of the shaft for the steering wheel
Can you measure it please with a vernier and post a photo of it
That would be extremely helpful

I got it out and installed the paddle shifters, but they didn't work... Do they have a plug that i need to connect after installing them?
Right now i have two problems, one: they don't work. Two: the steering wheel is not straight, i think I have moved the clock spring by mistake a little bit at the left, and right now the car goes straight when the steering wheel is a little bit at the left.

What usually happens is after the steering wheel is removed the steering column will move slightly.
Get the wheels pointed as straight as possible before removing the steering wheel and have another go
The splines will let the wheel to be set pretty much anywhere.
So long as the wheel alignment is spot on you shouldn't have any drama
Don't be surprised if it takes a few goes to get the alignment spot on

check the airbag mounts before buying the wheel. Had the same question a while back and found out that they look identical from the outside, but they used different airbags. Might be the same if you match the years but I can't say for sure.

No you are thinking of the 2010-2011 ASX wheel they changed to this in 2012, Much nicer looking wheel and better controls.

This is the Mitsubishi Triton steering wheel I want.
A mate of mine bought his a few weeks ago .
Sadly he won't let me pull it to bits to do a test fit
