ABS Issue

Postby kieran.spooner » Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:50 pm

Hi all, I realise that the ABS issue is a common issue in the lancers and I can also see that there is a lot of talk on these forums about the issue. To save me sifting through all of that I just want to cut to the chase and find out some key information. I, of course have the ABS issue;
So I could;
option 1; go to an auto wreckers and get the abs module but I suppose there is no guarantee I won’t have the same issue again?
Option 2: Purchase a brand new module and is this guaranteed to make sure the issue doesn’t come up again? If I were to go this route what sort of cost is associated?
Option 3: just leave it as it is however this is not really something I want to just leave.

Am I missing any other points of action that I could take in regards to this matter? Because if there’s alternatives I’d love to know
Thanks guys

Opt 1- you'd be lucky to find one they get snapped up pretty fast
Opt 2 - brand new is around $2500
Opt 3- not an option the abs isn't working
So you are left with getting the old one repaired which will cost around $400-$600 plus removal and refitting.Find a Cooldrive agent in whatever city you are in and have a talk to them about getting it overhauled.Or find your local brake specialist they should know where to send it for repairs

Ok thanks. I have found one actually from a wreckers but the only thing that is putting me off is the uncertainty as to whether or not it could just have the exact same issue. Would I be right I’m assuming that that’s a high possibility?

Could be worth a punt depending on the price.If they have a money back guarantee give it a go.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. After a read of that it looks like I either shoot it off to Sydney but may try getting the brushes to move itself by the look of someone else on the post. Thanks again
