Loud whistling noise.

Postby Seffy » Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:11 am

So lately I've been experiencing a loud whistling noise coming from my car, which has CVT transmission. It always occurs if I drive for more than 15 minutes on average and once I go home, put the car in the driveway or garage.. once I put it on P I hear a loud whistling noise and you can hear it for about a minute or so before it stops.

Once I turn the car off, then back on again for another drive on the same day, the noise is gone but shows up again once I put it on P after another 15 min or so drive. If I change out of P the noise stops.

I'm thinking it's a belt of some sort, but considering this occurs only once it's on P I'm really concerned it might be the CVT itself having an issue.

Has anyone encountered something like this before?

Any inputs about what it could be would be great. :)
Thanks.

I'm not sure still if it's actually the CVT, but because of the fact that it occurs once on P then it's one of the likely reasons for the noise. :/

Nick that's a good point actually. I've pretty much stopped driving the car in case I destroy something.
