The amount and type of gear you can buy is endless, dry weatehr, wet wetaher, all purpose, summer, winter etc

As has already been mentioned in this thread you do get what you pay for.... Not saying you need to buy gear for all ocasions but in my experience and this is my opinion only, it is worth buy decent gear as in the worst case scenario it really will make a big difference.

From one extreme to the other: Alpinestars leatehrs are hand made and put through numerous tests before being released for sale whilst other cheaper brands are mass produced with very little quality control. i guess the same applies in all industries but on a bike your gear is the only thing between you and the road literaly....

Kawasaki GPX 250 is what I spent my learners on. Was a nice easy bike to bide, handled well and easy to maintain. The bonus of it was I could get 400+ km from a tank. The time I lost on rides was made up when the over 750cc boys were stopping to refuel!

Yeah, the range on those 250s is hampered by the fact they have to work so hard...

Once you get into the bigger tourers, you can get upto 700km range... but 400km is a good range, especially for only the small capacity tanks
