Ebay has some kits for 60 bux but i dont know how good they are

As I've said previously, they work fine for reading data that is on the OBD protocol. Reading/Writing of the ECU can not be done with them, so far only the Tactrix can do that. Oh and Mitsubishi's $8000 MUT-III tool

I'm interested in that Devtoaster Rev gauge software for the iPhone/iTouch (http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/). I remember seeing a thread somewhere for this but even with searching can't seem to find it :S

There isn't that much information available over the OBD protocol... Pretty basic really.

If you really want to monitor your Evo, get EvoScan and a Tactrix Cable

Whilst I'd be happy with revs/speed, I was under the impression it could also monitor boost and so on...

With just OBD you can monitor at least the following:

Engine speed
Intake Air Temp
Intake pressure (not all cars though)
Coolant Temp
Oxygen Sensor Voltage
Throttle Position
VVT (not all cars)

But with EvoScan you can log soooo much since you have an Evo. See Here

if you down load the free app onto you ipod/iphone you can see the features it has. i have and it looks pretty sweet, Dreavon is getting the system.

Fuel Pressure
Fuel consumption
Fuel Level

Not everything is there to read from the Evo over OBD though. That's what I'm saying

My brother has a ScanGauge and it does, power, intake temp, coolant temp, revs, etc.

dont think it does boost, but thats what your saying

They do most on most cars, but our cars are pretty complex computer wise so a lot can't be read, just the very basics.

So that is why for the Evo I recommend EvoScan, as it has been programmed to actually get all the data it can, either via OBD, MUT or CAN-BUS et al

It's a different basket of fish...

EvoScan works well for Evos.... Not so well for normal Lancers, or even the RA.

The generic OBD tools work good for basic data on normal Lancers, and nothing else for the Evos

Thought I'd add another way you could verify which ones are available- the GReddy Informeter Touch has a list of vehicles and what data it can read from the OBDII port. Hey all, has anyone bought a generic ebay OBDII reader yet, and if so did it work and which one did you buy? Want to see if these basic ones work just to reset engine light (caused by just CAT sensor on high flow install) and reading any basic codes/errors etc. Cheers
