Anyone got one?
I'm thinking of getting a Mongoose MAP80 with power window closer and a tilt sensor. The alarm also does 3 extra points of immobilization and will fully integrate into the keyless entry system of the VRX lancer.
MAP80 is $400
Power window closer is $130
Tilt Sensor $150
Just not too sure on whether the tilt sensor is worth it though...any comments anyone?
The reason I am getting it is because I want to protect my stereo and even though the rims have lock nuts I'm told you can still get them off....

Alarm Upgrade for the CJ

I had the standard alarm upgraded on the CJ and I think that's enough
Your'e right Bandit these days people will just ignore the alarm tone and keep on walking by
Best bet is to have your car and accessories well insured and try to keep an eye on it as best you can.
Ryan_C - I found an effective deterent on my CE was a simple well hidden cutout switch on the fuel pump - it saved her once when a so called quality brand name alarm failed to.

yeah only useful alarm is 1 with GPS tracing if the car is stolen, i set off alarms in our work car park all the time with my subs and the guys upstairs don't even care.
These are there 100k + Mercs and BMW's (managers)
Not to mention if someone was going to steal it, not hard to chop the speaker out.

Well where I normally park is work car park (pretty safe), at home (has been known for people to try and pinch stuff from cars in people's front yards), at uni (pretty dodgey at night time but if there were an alarm that would rouse the people in the houses and prolly deter the would-be thieves)...
And currently I cant fully insure my stereo...
I have also once forget to fully wind up a window and I'm sure I'll prolly forget another time if I dont soemthing that does it! (not sure why they didnt just ingrate this into the VRX entry system)

I wish it did that too. The VWs and Ford Focus do it. Hold the lock button down and the windows go up. hold the unlock button and they go down.
The euro-spec Lancers have this feature but we don't. Mega ghey.

From my info obtained from my service dept the standard factory immobilizer system is fully integrated with the ECU and is hooked into several systems rendering the car virtually start proof without the correct key.
Ignition, fuel and starter etc all inoperative without the key.
So the only way to steal it is to tow it away.
All new cars are the same/similar as far as I'm aware. Anyone have different info???

Ryan if your worried about your rims a tilt sensor is a must depending on the setting of tilt sensor it will set the alarm off before wheels get off the ground.
For my alarm it has
remote start
shock sensor
3 sirens 1 inside the car to blow there ear drums
tilt sensor
audio glass break sensor
body heat movement sensor.
