nsw, thinking of a new vrx

Postby cjay » Sun Nov 22, 2009 6:01 pm

gday all !
names jason, 28 from port macquarie nsw. (north of newcastle/taree)
current ride is my pride and joy 04 astra sedan.
however with my finance finishing up next month, and me wanting to pass the astra onto the missus, its time to look for a new car.

with holden importing daewoos instead of opels, ive decided to look elsewhere.
after much research and consideration ive decided to go for a lancer.
VRX is my first and prefered chioce, but as others who have finance will know, the car you want isnt always the car you can afford.

i had the pleasure of taking a manual white vrx sedan for a test drive on saturday.
there are negatives and positives to every car, and the lancer is no exception, but that awesome front end and the overall pleasing to the eye look of the car (amongst other things) are worth a million negatives!

so, ive signed up, i am going to be asking a fair few questions around the place, and hopefully sometime before xmas ill be sharing info and earning my place in the forum with a sexy vrx in my driveway :D

Welcome to Club CJ Jason. I'm sure this clubs members will be more than happy to help you with any questions you have.
Advice: Buy now and begin to enjoy before X-Mass.
Also buying now will hopefully give your missus a reason to stuff some Mitsu optional extra's in your X-Mass stocking.

Hi there, welcome to the club... and hopefully you pick the lancer, you can't go too far wrong with them in my opinion, even the lower spec ones are a nice drive.

When I was looking at new cars (finance wasn't an issue as I was in a position to buy outright) I looked at the Holden Cruise, the Mazda 2 (3 was a little out of my projected range), the Corolla, the Ford Fiesta Zetec, the Smart (so I could tell critics of my choice that I'd looked at something tiny) and the Lancer.

The Lancer won me over by being an exhilarating and fun drive - plus it was the only one I test drove where I got 30-45 minutes solo without the dealer in the passenger seat.

well, i was going to ask in the appropriate place, if i could find it lol, but i had to go to the shop and came back and seen your reply.

first of all, thankyou everyone so far for your welcome, in here and the shoutbox.

i would like to know the differences of the vrx models offered in this shape.
i get the opinion that the rf system has only been offered this year (MY09.5) as standard in the vrx instead of an option, apparently previously a $750 option for vrx ,

ive also noticed somewhere the rf system is a 2k upgrade to the es and vr models.

but, im not really interested in the es and vr range atm,,,
if possible, can someone compile a list of all things that were added/removed throughout each release...not just the rf system.

2007
2007.5
2008
2008.5
2009
2009.5
2010 (i am assuming MY2010 has been released by now.)

dealer didnt give me a time frame, but i was told by a bloke i know that 1hr was what they give you, so thats what i took.
i dont go easy on my astra, so i made sure i didnt take it easy on the lancer.
i intended on taking a es or vr for a test too, but ill leave that for if i get rejected for the vrx.

Oh yeah. 2010's are out, have been for a few months. Mine's an M10, RX though.

Added to the M10's, mostly cosmetic:

VRX console, Lid/arm rest on the bin, cover on the drink holder ES & VR
VRX rear lights, ES & VR
New pattern Rims, ES & VR

RX - Limited run. ES with alloy rims and low rise tail (Sedan) VRX spoiler (Sportback) included rather then extra

OK. Well first off, welcome dude!
Next thing, this should settle the argument of Mazda Vs Mitsu

Now if you feel comfy driving a Mazda after seeing the comparison photos, well that's your choice. I think those photos are a convincing enough argument! :D

lmao! i do prefer the older 3 compared to the new 3, im not a hater of the new 3, but it does beg the question of what were mazda thinking.
as i said earlier, the lancers look is awesome.
though if you go back a model or 2, the lancer and magna reminds me of an au falcon (mostly headlight wise) which i am sure almost everyone would agree is the 2nd most ugliest car in the world.
1st place being the ford ka.
ford = fail
