Yep, I've been checking out Shadows stuff. I think that's the way I'll go as it does look great value. The front airdams look easy enough to put on myself, but may need to get the professionals to do the sides.

Thanks again everyone.

Mad Dogg wrote:I did have a quick chat to the dealer a few weeks back and he reckoned that he couldn't really throw in any extras because the RX is already just about cost price because of the spoiler and alloys. I'm guessing he was just trying to up the price a bit. The problem is we only have one Mitsubishi dealer in Rocky, so the best I can do is play him off with Mazda.

So where do you get the 3M window tinting? That sounds like the way to go, but I'm not sure anywhere in Rocky does it. Looks like I'll have a few calls to make later this afternoon.

Thanks again for the welcome :D

i) Yes he was trying to up the price, that's his job, trying and make as much money out of a deal as he can.
ii) You can play him off other Mitsu dealers, who's to say you can't get a cheapy flight and drive back from pick up dealership. People do it these days. :) Just do your dealing with other dealerships via email or fax.
iii) 3M tint. I heard good things about 3M and Johnsons films from researching online. I went with 3M as I've had experience with 3M, yes it pricier, but you get what you pay for. Also heard 3M is color stable so it wont go purple after a few years. Not sure about the Johnson films. As for finding 3M tinters, Google failed me. So I went online yellow pages and listed quite a few 3M tinting places, I got lazy and went for the one closest to my parents (but quite far away from me - go figure!)

Mad Dogg wrote:Ok, found somewhere that does 3M tinting for $325. Definitely the way I'm going to go.

On the way home this afternoon I saw a devastating site. A blue Lancer sedan, just like I want, driving past that had been in an accident. The bottom left of the front bumper was either caved in or broken off, and as it went past I realised it was leaking some fluid from the area. Poor thing

As a price guide, (and i have a VRX) so I only needed to get the front two passenger/driver windows done.
I got quoted $135 for 3M 35% VLT tint (max darkest and legal) for both.
I wanted more darker to match the privacy glass (which mean illegal tints) - 3M 20% VLT - $100, cash in hand no receipt. :)
I guess cheaper because it's "off the record" hence no warranty claims etc, I dunno.

There are a few types of 3M film. I went for "Black Automotive Window Film" as opposed to the "Chrome Automotive Window Film" - have a look at www.3m.com.au

..and yeah poor busted up lancer. That's always sad.

Well, I finally ordered it yesterday after a few days of hassle. Went in on Friday and was told they had one more lightning blue RX coming in, but when I went back on Monday to put my name on the little black line I was told it had been sold on Saturday. I could've got an ES with the spoiler and alloys for only a little more, but first I called around the area to see if anywhere in driving distance had what I wanted. But then yesterday about 3.30 I got a call that the person who bought the last one in Rocky had their financing fall through. Seeing as I work at 5pm, it was a mad dash to get over there and get everything organised before work. But it's done, I've put the deposit down and it'll be arriving in a week or two. :D

Time to really start checking out all the mods on the forum...

Picked up the new car yesterday. Haven't had much of a chance to drive her yet, but I'm loving it so far. So much smoother and enjoyable than my old Lancer.

Will post up pics soon.
