It's a risk I'm willing to take, if you think about it a very high percentage of cars on the road are defectable, not necisarrily(SP?) for mods but for bald tyres, cracked windscreens, broken headlight, holes in exhaust - the list goes on and on - the cops seem to take a particular interest in the mods that don't endanger anyone like loud BOVs and A-Pillar guages :P

In my experience a fair amount of officers don't know whats legal and what's defectable anyway.

And yes, bd-850 Afraid it is.

right seeing as how i've got a side mount on my car i might just chime in here.

FACT. moving the plate to the side or anywhere other than where it was manufactured means the car is no longer ADR approved. regardless of state or territory

FACT. the reason why MMAL centre mounted the licence plates on the X and subsiquently the CJ range is because too many owners were being defected for having the plate on the side. yes i realise that alfa's have theres side mounted but all alfa's have theres side mounted. most cops can't tell the difference between an evo 8/9 and a ch lancer so they were defecting owners thinking they had moved them.

the cars that MMAL bought over for the Evo X drivers day all had side mounted number plates so the question was raised there and that was the answer we recieved when told we wouldn't be getting side mounted plates liek previous lancers.

that's mine with it on and i quite like it. the evo's cant have the euro plates because they wont fit on the rear without bending the plate lol.

i used the laile number plate bracket. its designed for you to use the stock rubber gromets and bolts from the front number plate. Ryan at JustJDM has them if you're still chasing one

hope that helps

Adrian, I do listen to you, don't worry :)

Thanks Arutha, I might hit up Ryan at JustJDM for one.

I was on a MCA cruise and saw an Evo 8/9 which instead of a license plate, had a sticker!! Never seen anything like it before and he's apparantly had a lot of cop trouble with it.

Thanks Adrian and Arutha for clearing it up though, I understand I could be defected for the side-mount plate but I love the way it looks
