Did you know?

For those with manuals and cruise control -

If you 'set' your cruise and if during your driving you slip it out of gear and 'resume' your cruise control.... The car revs the crap out of itself to Redline trying to accelerate back to your assigned speed...

Found that by accident one day

 Nice one Tarquin!

Did you know...

The light sensor behind the mirror is made up of 2 sensors. One detects ambient light (Light around the car) where as the second one only picks up light from in front of the car, at a distance.

The result of that is, the car knows when you enter a tunnel/under a fly over so it only turns the lights on when it is dark

Did you know, the Smart Key knows when it's battery is getting flat and it warns you on the instrument cluster with a warning message for 30 seconds.

Happened to me today as well, and eventually I had to resort to the emergency key

Did you know Lancers have a new AU only factory accessory? A small family or red back spiders complete with nest in the boot of the car. CJ Lancer's. Lethal in more ways than one... Brilliant feature to find when pulling out your rear tail lights.

The Age newspaper that gets delivered to the house every day finally got used.

---

Something else is if need to overtake in a 100k zone and you and car in front of you are travelling around the 80k, drop it down to 4th and make full use of all that top end torque these Lancers have to complete your overtake without the need to go over 100k. Our Lancers are one of the fastest cars on the market for real time acceration figures (the 80-100k mark or overtake acceleration figures).

All providing you have the 5speed manual box

Did you know?

Partially holding down the stalk for 1 sec will flash the blinkers only once.
Tapping the stalk for any shorter period will do the default 3 flashes for lane changing function.

Why do you want to signal only once anyway? In changing lanes or making turns, you need way more than one blink to alert others on what you're doing.

Did you know....

how the CVT works????

I read someone saying in this forum that the CVT is in fact a manual, that that is why he uses the shifter, that the auto was just an add on.... mmmmmmmmm, nope, the shifter is just 6 x preset ratios in the pulleys, giving you the sence of feeling gear changes, also, if you are in 6th gear, then slide it to D, you will notice a reduction in revs, since you had the 6th ratio locked, therefore giving you a higher consumption.....

I found this which explains how it works

I think someone was talking about the SST transmission and you got confused dude! Either that or they were confused and said "CVT" where they meant "SST"

SST IS manual, but can be set to shift automatically. It's still a manual gear box, still has a clutch (2 clutches), but can be set to shift automatically.

You're 100% right about the CVT info there tho ;-) it's a "variable diameter pulley" setup meaning the pulleys (in place of gears) rather than actually changing from one large pulley to a second smaller one to gain speed the pulleys CONSTANTLY vary their size so you have a smooth transition instead of a instant change of gear ;-)

The TC-SST is essentially 2x 3-speed manual gearboxes, each with a clutch, jammed in together, then the clutches are automated ;)

---

Did you know,

When the TC-SST is placed in park or neutral, it engages 2nd and Reverse gears, then releases (disengages) both clutches. Thus allowing the motor to still run but the car won't move ;)
