Good price incuding XDC kit and extras - other XDC vehicles (not even CVT) have gone for closer to 30 grand!

I think you could have sold you camry for more than $1,250 as a private seller if you tried though...!

Very true, but I didnt want to go through all that hassle of selling my own car... Its much easier this way ^^

I'm sure it's worth way more than $1,250. I could have taken it for 2 grand and replace our old car. Anyway, when you want something bad, you just do no matter what the deal. A friend of mind traded in his 2003 Mazda6 for a 2007 model of the same car, gets 5-speed auto and better wheels, but he pays 15 grand extra after the swap. Probably the worst transaction I've ever heard.

Does anyone know the rough prices the dealers are getting rid of 08 stock? All variants will be useful.. need to know if my budget falls within the new car category

Hard to tell. Each dealer will have a different price as each of them will hold out for the highest price possible.

You're much better off just deciding what you want and what you want to pay for the car then visiting some dealers and see who can do you a deal.

True. I will be going to a dealer on saturday. I will make it known I am very interested in buying (which I am) so hopefully I'll get some rough prices.

What features does the VR platinum have? Are there many in stock?

That's VR plus the following features:

MMCS (minus 6-stack CD player)
Chrome front grille (sedan only)
Chrome window bottom surround (sedan only)
Bluetooth Phone connectivity

I'm not sure if there's any stock left. There were only 600 of these made and at best, you're looking at a 2009 runout.

Yup. No more 08 stock or platinum stock. All gone.

Ended up with a white hatch manual VR 2009 (compliance 05/09) for $22500. Couldn't get this price for any other colour/body shape. Oh well
