my rally red lancer has a long key mark pretty much my whole driver side. deep but not to deep
any ideas besides compound, because that seems to just cause haze

is it in a position were you could maybe cover it with a colour matched pin strip or something,
karma will get the person who done that to your beautiful lancer.

so its in the middle, that's bad.
take it to a pro body shop, they can fix it without ruining or hazing the surronding paint, that's what I would do.
