Hi from Darwin

Postby Gone_Troppo » Sun Aug 16, 2009 4:50 pm

Just popping in to say Hi,

We've had our lightning blue VRX for about 8 weeks now and are absolutely loving it. Upgraded from a 1983 Mazda with almost no clutch, blowing smoke, leaked like a sieve. The CJ is our first ever 'brand new' car and I think we made a great choice.

Anyway, I've been too busy enjoying driving the car to take pics of it - we'll have to do that soon so I've got some to post on here.

See you round.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I'm not sure if its just me or what but it seems since we bought this car there seems to be a heap more lancers on the road than there used to be. Maybe I'm just more conscious of them now.

As far as mods... nothing really planned just yet. After the old bomb we're enjoying the CJ as is for now. We had the car delivered with mmcs, tow ball, weather shields, full tint and the paint & fabric protection stuff. Only thing we might get in the near future are some decent mudflaps - we took the car on some dirt a couple of weeks ago and now have a heap of stone chips on the side skirts just in front of the rear wheels :( (I've ordered some touch up paint already)

How have people found their local dealers with dealing with warranty stuff? good? slack? painful to deal with? A couple of the demister bars on my rear windshield are not working (just happens to be the 2 bars directly above the spoiler when I look in the rear view mirror) - the dealer said they thought that it was a problem caused during tinting and the windscreen would probably need replacing. It took ages for the dealer to organise for the tinters to have a look at it and they didn't even order the windscreen until after it had been back to the tinters. Now its going to take another 2 weeks for the window to arrive and who knows how long after that to get it re-tinted and fitted. Its not a big drama, but its annoying nonetheless. On a positive note, when I dropped it off for them to look at the windscreen I pointed out a few bubbles on other windows and by the time I picked the car up that afternoon the tint on those windows had been replaced and they look sweet.

Thanks again for the welcome. I'll be seeing you around the board I'm sure.

Yeah I've had a mixed experience with my dealership.

They have been really good and helpful attitude wise when it comes to finding accessories and parts etc. Help ful trying to save money and was great sales (i.e. got all my options for free)

But they either take too long to find a part in thier database (i.e. can't find the part number when I ask for an item with a detailed description like "Carbon Fibre Look B-pillar inserts") or they dont' follow up or through with a request like I asked for touch up paint one week and didn't get a call back or anything by the time they said they would call back and they forgot about it.

Also in my last service they missed 3 things, Clutch and brake fluid level, Battery fluid level, and rear passenger side wheel alignment was way off.
