managed to finally get a hold of Merlin today on the phone, he is going ok, very busy, as said happy to help anyone with remote tuning, however, because of covid he suggested you grab a tactrix open port to make life much easier for all involved, once you have that, give him a yell

@bumble - Where is this big project your working on ???

Awesome to hear, so IF I get a tactrix open port that is all I will need? He will tune my car and I can load it on to the ECU with that and I am finished. No other parts.. I may do it. Just in the essence of time and being at home for what seems like forever.

@ PJ RHODES - Not really the space to ask the question because its a build thread of mine. But no idea buddy if its custom fabbed you got less hope. If it isn't then look at some body shops for Ralliarts: Bodykitkingdom or Spoilers & Bodykits Australia are the only ones I really know.

Fathers day rolled around the family and I got Dad a big Oil drainer, 70l tank, filtered with extendable neck, large oil pan, bypass valve etc. Also just attach air compressor to it and it pumps it all out. Loved it, should be good for servicing my car too!

Sounds good, look forward to it bumble. (you didn't answer my question tho lol!!)

So on a side note - I have decided & proceeded to take out my spare wheel, jack, small tool kit, jumper cables, tow ball and bolts plus any other little pieces out of my car today in an effort for some small weight savings.

Yes I know I know what happens if this or that etc. I have thought about most of it - My battery works fantastic as of late starts very quickly without fail so I don't really need 5kg jumper cables in the car every day when I work literally 10km down the road - just in the garage is fine (also I already have a battery standby to change when the one now dies), I don't use any of the tow ball equipment never will (in the garage it goes) probably another 5kg in that (its quite heavy), and if you get rid of the spare tire you may as well get rid of the jack and tool kit - which I will say that I have never needed it ever, its probably half flat (so really unreliable right now anyway) and I always get my tyres changed on time and have 6 month old tyres now. Only time is if the car hits glass or a nail etc. and goes flat. Which I'll probably just ring insurance to tow it home and change the tyre then instead of awkwardly on the side of the road.

All in all rough estimates i think its close to 20kg if not a little over. Most of those space saver tyres are like 10-12kg in themselves, jack and toolkit probably another 3-4kg, tow ball and bolts easily 5kg+ and jumper cables were massively heavy probably just under 4 or 5 kg again.

Haven't stripped anything else of course cos I still want the rest of the features, but should hopefully make a very marginal compliment to the tune whenever I get it done ahahah.

I can now safely say I joined the weight savings meme'ers.

Avenir.

10kg of weight removed will save you about 60 litres of fuel over 200,000 klm
The table below is calculated at $1 per litre
As for removing weight for performance gains around 50kg weight reduction will give you the equivalent of a couple of extra kilowatts.

Round trip to Alice just over 6000 kayak

As for the tactrux open port
Grab one of those
You will need the "ECU flash" software as well
From memory it was free
Merlin will send you two files
One is a .xml file the other is the rom
You can't flash the eom with out a .xml (well , you can , however for the purposes you need you will need the .xml)
Once done your right to go
Keep the open port
It opens up a whole new world for you in the lancer , evo, RA

Little update:
- With the new roadmap out of restrictions its looking like probably end of October when I can get home and finish a few more things on my car. The sway bar kit is sitting up there, and I'll most likely grab a fuel filter and some more poly bushings that are left to be changed. Also means the upgraded radio install will be pushed back till then I think.

- I was going to buy the VLAND headlights this week, BUT I have decided to take a small detour and venture into some more investing in the stock market. So no new parts this week coming. Maybe the week after.

- Car is running great, just want to get the next few things done whenever I can. I have neglected on buying parts for the car for sometime as I brought a new graphics card for the PC, bench press etc. Change in priorities lol. SOON.

- Oh also I am off the P's officially. So I am keen to drive whatever now, maybe that 350z one day :/

Nice
Replace the fuel filter in the tank about every year or so
They are inexpensive and easy to Replace
