Lancer Throttle Controller

Postby chump » Thu Jul 01, 2021 5:50 pm

Hi guys,
I'm interested in getting an EVC Throttle Controller for my '08 VRX. Just wondering if anyone else has used one/has one and would be able to provide their thoughts on it. Is it worth it?

Thank you.

I installed one in my 2015 car and think it does a brilliant job.
Can really feel the difference in pick up and far faster throttle response.
Well worth the money in my opinion. Also very easy to install and remove if you need to.
Part # is EVC303.

nope, not worth it
they are a one trick pony. they adjust the the sensitivity of the throttle and thats it.
kits like this cab be bought around the $200-$250 mark.
for $300 aud your better off to get a tactrix open port, this will open up a whole world of hacking you can do on the CJ , RA, EVO
and yes, you can adjust this in the ECU tune.
if you have a read thru the performance na section, i have posted up info for a sneak peek inside a na rom
have a read thru it
your better off getting the ECU tuned be it NA, RA, EVO as there is an absolute truckload of parameters inside the rom that are pure rubbish from the factory and can have a decent kick up the backside and get some decent performance happening

these guys are the cheapest in australia
https://www.tiperformance.com.au/produc ... -ecuflash/
and you can pay it off with zip pay over a few months.

"Agreed , got mine online for 230 beer tickets."

"A lot of average people have no idea how to go about that."
and yes, you can adjust this in the ECU tune.
"Again , no idea."

"I know you lads on the East Coast have plenty of go fast shops to choose from , but up here , they are VERY few and far between. Also , these tuning shops can be crazy expensive."

Bumblebee,
How does getting a tactrix set up help the average guy? It's all well and good if you are literate in this level of computer work. The majority of people aren't as mechanically proficient as you and are looking for easy to do mods they can do themselves.

Not arguing a tactrix setup isn't worthwhile, just that it's not a suitable tool for everyone.Almost anyone could hook up an EVC and get it to work and be happy with the result.Getting into the ECU is a different story that most people are not interested in or capable of doing. This is a forum for average car enthusiasts that like playing with their cars.

Yeah I would have no idea on how to do anything within the ECU. I'd much rather get the EVC as it would likely be cheaper, would be simpler and I would still be able to notice a difference in the throttle response. Not trying to build a ground breaking car so an EVC will give me what I'm looking for. Thanks for the replies guys.

where you go and pull the cable out of the top of the throttle to plug the contraption in,be very careful.
there is a number of pins there that are thin and can be easily damaged

Sweet. Thank you for the heads up, I appreciate it. I was looking at the plug and I couldn't actually figure out how to remove it. I couldn't really see if there was a clip I had to disengage or a retainer I had to pop out or something. Do you have any idea? Thanks.

i suggest you grab a mobile phone, set it to video mode, get it recording, with the light on so you can see the rear of the plug while it is still mounted and watch the video you make.
you can also remove the 2 x bolts holding the throttle to the firewall to make it easier to see the plug
