HELP with scuffs and scratches???

Postby CJVR08 » Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:14 pm

Really need your advice?
I was washing my car earlier today and just noticed these scuffs/scratches on the front bumper!

Does anybody here think it is possible to polish/buff them out without needing to respray?

The paint job has marks here and there but this is the most prominent issue for me...

Can I get a product from like Repco and some kind of cloth to buff these out or do I need a professional with an actual buffing machine and lotion???

I don't want to have to pay to completely re spray the whole bumper if I can avoid it???

Thank you kindly.

Well I've been told to use some Meguiar's ultimate compound stuff so I'll try that

Depending how deep the scratch is I use Meguiar's scratch X 2
Worst case scenario , have a hunt around and find someone who does mobile car dent and scratch removal near you

Got rid of most of the scuffs marks and made the scratches finer but some marks were obviously deeper than others...

So should I use a wax or Polish or something besides the compound now?

Just want the paint to be shiny

Polishing is a great way to remove the clear coat and damage the paint even more

When was the last time it had a clay bar run over it ?

Remember, wax is a sealant so it seals all the imperfections

So
If you remove the imperfections first you have a much nicer product at the end
It's all in the prep work

If you want to get the light scratches out maybe get a better compound than what you can get from auto parts shops. They are for amateurs and aimed not to be too aggressive. You have to be careful with Mitsubishi paints as they are pretty soft and thin paints.

Try SCHOLL CONCEPTS S3GOLD XXL from a company called waxit.
https://www.waxit.com.au/products/scholl-concepts-s3gold-xxl-cutting-compound-250ml-1l

It can be used by hand and is very good at not leaving too many marks behind. If it looks swirly you can use a swirl remover. Then apply a sealant or wax over the top.

People tend to treat polished and waxes the same. Polishes still remove slight amounts of imperfections, it will still make the paint shine and protect it to some degree. For Example - Meguiars wet look as a polish.

Waxes are usually made from organic and natural materials. They will smooth out the surface and not remove any imperfections and give a level of protection usually around 3-6 months. For Example Meguiars Carnuba Wax

Sealants are usually synthetic and are used the same as waxes. They tend to last around 12 months.
For example Meguiars - Next Gen

Meguiar's ultimate compound worked well thank you.

Was just thinking if I need something else afterwards
