Hi all,
wanted to introduce myself. My name is Cesar and I have fallen for Lancers for over 10 years.
My first Lancer was a yellow 2006 VRX which was my first insight on how good these cars really are!
Im on my second now, a 2014 red VRX....... Cant get enough of the 2.4L mivec..... Love it!
Im in the process of transforming this car and in need of guidance, good ideas and enjoyment.
Hope to meet Lancer owners in my state as well as in other places.
Im based in Perth WA and wouldnt mind taking the VRX for some cruises with you guys!
Cesar

G'day and welcome aboard
No doubt the 06 VRX could use a good ecu tune
Look into the throttle body a minimum of a port job wouldn't go astray
Look into a decent exhaust say 2.25 inch with 200 cell cat and mini-cat on rear O2 sensor
Have a look under the throttle body, is the inlet manifold restriction it in any way?
Check out the air box also ? Any restriction there?
Check out exhaust manifold, any restriction there?
Tons to check out
Wrap under the bonnet with exhaust wrap on radiator hoses and do air intake with gold heat wrap

Mini-cat info here

Actually
2014 VRX exhaust manifold is good from the factory
Throttle body can be upgraded to outlander 6b31 65mm with ecu tune to boot
Decent exhaust under it with 200 cell cat will help truckload for sure

If your serious about modify the car for performance a d want to modify ECU then you will want a Tactrix open port
About the cheapest in Australia is this one
https://www.tiperformance.com.au/produc ... -ecuflash/
It can be used as is for Evo X ecu also
There are adaptor you can buy to use in earlier model Mitsubishi as well as Subaru
Might be a wise idea to grab a OBD2 tool also to read and clear error codes , you can also use it for data logs as well.
Not all OBD2 tool are the same
The el cheapo lower end units are usually hideously slow and a lot of time don't even work.
The OBD2 tool should work on the majority of cars manufactured after about 2006

Re: Been a Lancer owner for over 10 years and new to the cj club
Thanks Bumblebee,
a bit of a coincidence as I named the yellow 06 lancer vrx bumblebee.... Unfortunately by selling the 06 vrx, it gave me the deposit for the 14 vrx.
The tips you have given me really make me consider upgrading the cat converter to a high flow one. Never dared plan for it but with your testing....I might consider doing it very soon.
Im upgrading the rear muffler to a straight through muffler next week so will see how he sounds and performs. The people doing the work also do high flow cat converters, might have to enquire and get a quote.
At the moment the parts I am waiting for are: short shifter (I have a manual of course....only way to go!), gas struts for bonnet, ram engine plate, front headlights, vinyl vinyl vinyl!!!, obd2 tool (read codes only), strut bar and interior and exterior lighting.
With photos posting soon I can give updates of where I am.

Re: Been a Lancer owner for over 10 years and new to the cj club
I also wanted to enquire....the exhaust for the 14 vrx (if Im correct) has extractors that include a cat converter which then go to a secondary catalytic converter, which is then followed by 2x resonators (I think) and the rear muffler. In your opinion, what would be the best way to upgrade this system (on a budget of course....)?
Also wanted to ask more about the upgrades available for the 2.4L 4B12, as you guys are well aware...there is not much out there in ways of bolt on upgrades as there is for the 4B11....any suggestions would be great!
Lastly, the Tactrix Openport 2.0, how good is it?
Is it user friendly? Are there any users that have tuned their 4B12 with this device? and how would you go about it?
Cheers for your response Bumblebee, appreciate it!

Re: Been a Lancer owner for over 10 years and new to the cj club
Go to your local custom exhaust shop and have a chat to them a out getting a mandrel bent system from the base of the downpipe back and a 200 cell catalytic converter.
Drop in at least one resonator, preferably two
http://imgur.com/a/ZlVElKc
Get the front resonator bigger then the rear one
Tactrix open port is magic kit, it's been around for quite a few years , and very reliable.
Been using one on mine now for ages.
Google it, there is a website for it also.
You will need to get ",ecu flash" can't remember if it was free or not
It maybe about $25 or so US
Extremely inexpensive .
Once you have that sorted , flick an email to
[email protected]
He can do a remote tune for you (you need the tactrix unit)
There is a few things 4b12 owners can do to give it a kick, read the forum there is a few things listed already
There is some more info on this topic coming in the next few months also

Coolio
Get reading thru the forum already
There is tons of info that you can't read with out an account
The 2.4 NA without too much effort will scrub up very nice
Take a look thru Google
There is guys in Russia who give a stock RA a run for its money in the 2.4NA
You can have just as much fun as the RA guys at a fraction of the $
