So I know its an old topic but I'm itching to do the footwell lights in my CJ.
Getting the lights isn't an issue although not had any luck finding the genuine ones, although they cost a fortune so I might just go with the cheap eBay ones.
But I need a refresher on where and how to wire them up so they com on with the dome light so only when needed so not to drain the cars battery. I understand the wiring does come out at the fuse box behind the glove box?
On the cheap eBay ones what have others used? The stick on ones can be hit and miss, last thing you want is them falling down, especially on the drivers feet.

Re: Footwell Lights?
Thanks, so basically that's the plug for the cabin light, connect the LED strips up to the right wires and they should come on with the roof light, cool.
Like I said looking on eBay and Google I couldn't find the genuine footwell lights but from memory they are in the $100s to get. Use the right wires and you can do front and back for way cheaper using LED strips, just buy the colour I want.

Re: Footwell Lights?
According to the instructions I have for the genuine footwell lights kit, the wire you need to tap into is the "6-pin white connector on the ETACS-CPU" behind / below the glovebox.
If you want to PM me an email address, I can send you the files.
Cheers,
V

Re: Footwell Lights?
Only thing is to work out where to place them, opinions?
I'll work on this over the next few weeks getting the bits needed and checking out behind the glove box.
Thanks

Re: Footwell Lights?
Depending on what your looking for
I didn't bother to do this mod
CBF
I replaced the incandescent bulbs in the interior with higher intensity LED
They are stupid bright and can see very easy
I have the map lights down the front above the windscreen as well as the light in the middle of the car
Love it
Adjusted the ETACS box so the timing is much longer then how it was and it's oh so much nicer
Keen to see where you mount led so they are out of the way

Re: Footwell Lights?
Thing is most of the time I leave the lights off, unless needed I don't even have the cabin light set to auto as 95% of my driving is in daylight hours. I just want to do them so when needed you have more light in the footwell for easier access at night.
Re: Footwell Lights?
Fiat enough
However
For the amount of time and effort your going to put in to it
I weighed it up and got the bright led lights instead
Fixed in less then 2 minutes and about $20
The amount of light that gets thrown out the doors when they are open is crazy
I think this was the one I got
eBay item

Re: Footwell Lights?
Forgot to say that I already added LEDs to the cabin light years ago and an LED strip in the boot.
Re: Footwell Lights?
Led strip in the boot is a great idea
I have 2 led strip in the boot over a meter long
Best thing since sliced bread

Re: Footwell Lights?
Yeah the pathetic single globe idea is like 50 years old, I do wonder if the boot light is better is new cars or ones from the likes of BMW?
