2010 Aspire headlight going out

Postby Prefectionist » Fri Oct 18, 2019 9:47 am

Hey guys, as per the title Im having some issues with my Aspires headlight. Specifically the right side. Its got the factory Xenon HID kit - everythings stock.

After a few minutes the light turns off (left side is fine).

If I leave the car off for a bit, the headlight will work again when I restart the car but the problem comes back after a few minutes.

What should I be checking to try and work out what the problem is? Problem only started last night.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have that kit. But I would suspect faulty ballast.
Swap them round and see if the fault swaps sides

Does sound like a dodgy ballast.

Cheers guys. Was hoping to hear it'd be something cheaper and less annoying to take care of. Guess I'll start trying to source a replacement ballast.

9 years of ownership, and no problems until the day it goes up for sale. I think I upset it.

Seems like it. Thats why I refuse to trade it in to a dealership, haha.

These ballasts are not easy to find either.

Have a look on the unit
There should be a part number on it
What is it?

Im yet to start taking apart the front end to try and get to it. Im hoping Mitsubishi can give me a part number on Monday to save me having to take thing apart and put them back together more than once.

Only number I've been able to see is for the igniter - W3T16373 0604 if thats any indication of what the ballast is.

My google-fu hasn't helped much, but at least it led me here.

I'll double check the part number with Mitsubishi on Monday just to be sure, and hopefully its a match for that lancerdarryl.

And if they're useless and cant help me, I'll just risk the 70 bucks.

You guys are the best. Really live up to the lancer legend/master titles =)
