About the same as getting it through Amayama, but quicker I'd hope, did you check the plug in the ETACS? I haven't yet.I tried to bridge the connections with some solder, but I will try with a paper clip later and then check the ETACS under the glove box.

No I didn't win PowerBall :( If I did it would be EVOs for everyone! LOL

Anyway back on topic...

I just tested the wiring, bridged them and after I put the car on ACC it told be to shut the bonnet, I can post a photo later.
So I know it works, just need to get the wiring or new latch.

So called a few more wreckers without any luck, can't believe the lack of suitable CJs at the wreckers.

Maybe, but without specific info I don't know.

Besides I've been told even used from the wreckers its a $30 part, so add shipping and its probably easier to just get the genuine part and sell off the old one on eBay.

Here is one without the wire going for $70 on eBay!

So after more than 2 years got this done!

Cost - was about $65 on eBay for a new part.
Time - was about 15 minutes not rushing and pretty easy.
Tools - Something to remove the plastic clips, 10mm socket or spanner, pointy noise pliers.

Remove the plastics, unhook the pull cable, 3x 10mm bolts and its off.
The wire goes through a hole behind the latch then its do up the bolts, plug in the wire, hook up the cable and put the plastic back on.

Such and easy DIY.

Only disappointment is unlike the doors or boot it doesn't beep at you if you lock the car and leave the bonnet popped.

But I do get a warning when I start the car to 'Close Hood', was it worth $65, I'll let you know. But I was surprised how dirty the old one was... which I'll now be selling on eBay in the coming weeks LOL

Good to see it worked without having to go into the Etacs to turn it on.

Yeah just wish Mitsubishi had coughed up a few more cents to install the lead/switch in 09 when they built the car  There is no logical reason it shouldn't have had one given the wiring harness was made for it.

Now weather its of any real use is debatable, unlike the boot it doesn't give a warning if you pop the bonnet then lock the car and I can probably remember just once in the last 4 years when I've driven off with the hood popped but the 2nd latch in place.

Either way I've got it installed... so anyone need a hood latch in good working order, no wiring harness included. :)

Glad you got it working
The most inexpensive way is to walk round the car and eyeball it before jumping in it and going a anywhere in it.
This will let you see if any damage done to the vehicle while you were away , and see if any of your tyres have gone flat , and see if there is any paint damages done , and if their is any extra puddles that shouldn't be there , etc
