CH Wagon Trailer?

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
the problem you will find is the Lancer has a maximum tow ball weight of 100kg, which is not very much! with a normal trailer most of the weight is balanced on the axle, that's why you can grab them and pull them around. there will be a lot of weight on the front overhang of the Lancer wagon!

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
Yeah that is an issue.
On the plus side its better to have the axle near the back, but yes they then puts more weight in the tow ball.
Basically I want a small light camper for the occasional trip, was thinking something like the teardrop ones but they can be really expensive. The other option is a fold out camber (basically a tent on a trailer) but these also can cost a lot to are old and ugly, yes looks count.
Maybe I can DIY something, get the base frame made then build on that?

Personally I'd rather travel lite and use parks/motels along the way but some times its easier to BYO.

Re: CH Wagon Trailer?
I'd actually be looking at shorter trips but where I want/need to camp and in the warmer months. Hate camping in winter. One of those foldout camper trailers are ideal for that. Its a step above just having a tent and lets face it a decent size tent is seriously gonna compromise your luggage space in the CJ.
I'll make some calls next week to get a ball park on a custom bare trailer frame.

you'd want the trailer as balanced as possible, if there's too much weight on the ball then it will cause the front of the car to lift and you will lose braking and steering.

Yeah that’s true, they are pretty neat, I’d say a good one would beat a tent

I found something similar to this on Gumtree for a $1000 was an old one and needed a refurb, but for $1000 you could do it up use it and sell it for a profit. but it sold before I could show the wife (probably for the exact reason I mentioned)

Hey my wheel barrow wheels!
I don't mind a bit of DIY, but the canvas can cost a fortune to repair or replace.
Outside a teardrop design, which has its pros and cons I like this style of fold out camper!

One fold out movement and you're ready to go, I've still got littlies so need the extra bunk space at the moment them sharing a double bed isn't too bad, when they get older might have to look at upgrading to a tow machine...
