I've been sitting back watching this thread develop.

How do Victorian members feel about Mooman being a state moderator. I sure could do with some help from active members

First up I want to say thanks aspir3 for sticking with this forum and giving everyone a free place to share all things CJ/CF Lancer.

I'm someone who doesn't do well with responsibility, it terrifies me (was the reason it took sometime to respond). At the moment I'm happy to provide content, advise and opinions but all of that comes without any pressure. I have the freedom to leave anytime I want and it won't impact on anyone else, that is important to me to be happy.

I understand the need for volunteers but I'm not the person for the job. As you can see from this thread Victoria has ok numbers and I'd encourage anyone who is happy to take up that moderator role to step up and help out.

The current crop of members is still benefiting from the contributions of Premium members past by being able to freely use this website, something I've taken advantage of by selling parts that used to only be available to paid members.

I try to contribute back by being active and providing research and ideas and that is where I'm comfortable as more of an advisory role.

But in saying all that what does state moderation actually entail?

The main role is to organise cruises and meets. Some choose to also moderate the forum and contribute ideas on the future of the club but that isn't the main role.

Ok, I'm already doing that unofficially and would for the time being just like to remain as such.

I want to organize a meet up with the Vic members at the end of the month, penciled in Saturday the 28th or Sunday the 29th of April (weekend after ANZAC Day so if you have a preference for either day please let me know), and will probably post a new thread with some details in the coming days. I want to try and get as many people there so we can talk about things and if they all want me to continue organizing such things then I'll take a more official role.

But for now if your from Vic and read this thread please add a post and say Hi.

Troy, this would certainly mean that a moderator whom does so would be personally liable if it was determined that their organisation of an event was contributory to someone's loss or damage. Whether a member does this officially or unofficially probably has little bearing on the organiser, except in the case of an official event, where any such liability would likely be shared with the committee of management / executive...

If we were an incorporated club, say in the jurisdiction of the State of Victoria, the club and it's members would indemnify the committee of management and anyone acting on their decisions in good faith from any such liability. The club itself would be liable, but not the members or the committee (presuming there was no actual negligence or a failure in an office holder's duty of care).

Rather than hijacking this thread, or Mooman's other thread for the proposed Vic Meet, perhaps I should post a proposal detailing the steps to incorporation that the members (including you Troy) might find workable. It will take some time to prepare, so if anyone is interested in seeing this, please let me know and I will draft something accordingly.
