Re: Racing Stripes?
I swear I’ve seen stripes done to a evo x before, I haven’t tried or seen it on a CJ but I could imagine it would be a big bump in HP especially if it were red stripes haha! In all seriousness I guess it looks pretty cool! Looks different on lancer but sometimes different is good!
I would probably plastidip the stripes on

Re: Racing Stripes?
The red VR-X almost identical to mine I parked next to had racing stripes. The two down the centre, that orange one with the offset stripe looks noice . It all comes down to how you do it, and how well you do it. you are making the car more unique, and yours, and that is all that matters, our opinion comes to nought at the end of the day

That’s right! That’s what a damn love about these cars... you can pick and pluck, change and swap so much to these cars to make them uniquely yours, and generally nearly every aftermarket mod you do Makes these cars look crazy mean! I reckon yellow stripes would make your car look even crazier on your VRX op!

Re: Racing Stripes?
Good racing stripes give you more 5kw at the wheels
I'm thinking off set on the drivers side, mainly because of the roof antenna and badges, put it in the right place might avoid them. Also I would go all the way down, doing the bottom of the front bumper and right now the boot lid and back bumper!

Re: Racing Stripes?
The original reason for driving stripes is so in rally the driver has a better reference point when looking down the bonnet, thus the reason for a single stripe. But clearly thats a non issue in most modern cars as you can't actually see the bonnet unless your head is some where around the sun-visor. What was the car (not SUV) you drove where you could clearly see the length of the bonnet? Mine was a 76' Celica.
The eBay I linked to is a pretty cheap stripe(s) but is 2x 1.87m, which is kinda short. I ripped out the tape and worked out you need about 4 meters for the CJ, maybe a little more.

Damn I never even knew that, fun fact for the day! My cousins old Hyundai Accent had the most incredible view of the bonnet it was so weird! That’s easy as, might as well just go with the vinyl!

Re: Racing Stripes?
How old was the Accent?
Most small cars built since the early 90s you struggle to see the bonnet from your normal seating position, my 93 Lancer was like this. Clearly bigger cars of the time had a longer bonnet, same with SUVs.
My old Lancer.
Must say one thing I loved about my 76 Celica was the bonnet opened forward.
NOT my old Celica, which is a shame, looks like a nice example!

I think an 03 or an 07 I could be getting either of them confused, I’m sure it was an 03.. I would always comment how vissible his bonnet was!

Re: Racing Stripes?
Wow yeah, its a weird shape. I think the early Hyundai's were based on old designs, probably bought from another maker and updated like Proton did with the 90's Lancers.
Also feeling nostalgic I looked up the 76 Celica's for sale, could only find 2 like mine. $20-25k! but they did have a lot of work, One have a 6cyl EFI and supercharged, the other a 302 Ford V8! Nothing cheap or stock.

Fkn Hell, man all these older jap icons rising on game and price, soon itl cost an arm and a leg for a NA 2JZ! I remember my dad owned an old holden torana.. thing would be worth a small little fortune if it had it today!

Yeah, the XU-1's were fun. Had a few around my circles - complete with fluffy dice. Just wrong. One day, in something that somewhat resembles a forum, people will reminisce fondly about their or their Dad's CJ... Hopefully they're worth a bit then too!
