Exhaust
Hello I’m a new member and I have a question about my 2008 VRX Lancer
I am having troubles on deciding whether to go a dual exit exhaust xforce axleback exhaust or a Custom made straight pipe axleback dual exit exhaust ( with possibly resonator delete )
I need some advice on which would be better sounding ?
Thanks you!!

Re: Exhaust
Be sensible with it, you'll end up with a loud, droney car if you're not careful!
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit .
Re: Exhaust
Forget the second choice, or expect police presence!
Re: Exhaust
Or you could leave the car stock and save a bucket of coin and avoid having the police say gday everytime you drive and make your car sounds like a v8 or a v12 with one of these dudads

Re: Exhaust
I’ve gone through a few set ups so far on mine, the best for me so far sound wise was dual tri flow mufflers with 1 resonator, sounded throaty at higher rpm which was nice, although the deepness was irritating sometimes, I would not go straight pipe, at one point a had two high flow mufflers with no resonators and just that was unbearable, me and my mate were suffering the first day I got it in.. I would say key for our lancers if you go dual exhaust DO NOT increase pipe size too much, I have done so in the past and not only does your low end torque suffer majority of the time but the car makes the most foul deep resonance especially when labouring! Research long and hard on which choice is the best for you, everyone reacts differently to different sounds, a custom can be good if you go to the right place, in which I did not lmao. If I had the choice to go back in time I would of stayed on an axelback most likely the x force dual exhaust as I could remove it as I pleased.
We are all in it for the fun!
Re: Exhaust
It's target is noise, but without experience can't comment on volume with load etc. I have a mid size straight through muffler currently and it's a little loud around town, but a decent resonator helped a lot. On the highway I cannot hear it over the road noise, I'll have to see if Nilrust has an installer in SA for when I get back to Adelaide. I won't be able to get that done in Port Lincoln no doubt, especially before 6 Jan or so when I travel back! There are sections of the road between here and Adelaide that are atrociously noisy and others where it isn't so bad. Also might try different tyre pressure etc. Reason why it's relevant is it comes back to noise of exhaust and your tolerance. Unwanted road and exhaust most can increase fatigue, stress, and irritability. Raising the stereo won't help, and external noise can cancel audio fidelity.
Exhaust shops can give bad advice, they think everyone wants noise. Probably the simplest thing you can do is a decent triflow/triple flow/turbo muffler (they're the same thing, but also might be labelled triflo etc), resonator upgrade (stainless straight through with stainless packing), and 200 cell metal with exhaust extension bung on the second O2 sensor. This should give you more power right across the rev range, and not lose the bottom end like you will with a too large of an exhaust. Any money left over can then go towards extractors. They seem to be tuned for the 4B12 engines, and the existing 4B12 manifold seems tuned for the 4B11 which don't use them.

yeah i got the dual exit with no resonator, i freaking LOVE IT. did a video of a cold start but dont think i can upload videos on here
would go custom axle back if i could go again and save myself a bit of coin, however like some said there is the risk of drone with custome

Re: Exhaust
Is your just the axelback or car ronan? I’m thinking of going to the x force path, if you can upload a video to YouTube or ever do link us! Wanna see how it sounds!
