Remove Mirror Cover

I want to remove the side mirror covers, the colored bit.

Can someone point me to some pictures or video on how its done on the CJ, for some time I've wanted to paint them as they have some scratch marks from the previous owner.

I know the basics, remove the mirror glass (did this on my old CC coupe) then you can get the cover off,
I just don't want to bust the mirror or how it's attached.

Looks pretty easy, might give it a crack tomorrow... do you really need the double side tape or is that just for the chrome ones?
