Hi Community
My 2008 Lancer also came up with the ABS Service Required warning and the dealer advised that the pump needs to be replaced [fault code c2116 - low or high supply voltage] which would cost $2800. Voltage checks have all passed.
The out of warranty claim was also rejected by Mitsubishi and I spoke to their customer care who say we are very strict in our decisions. Once taken it cannot be revoked. Basically they were not helpful at all.
Reading this thread seems a lot of people have had this fault. My car even though its 8 years old has done less than 100Ks and never been in an accident or off-road.
Any suggestions if anyone has been able to get a claim via ACCC ?

Me too! :-/
My ES Lancer was in for it's major service when I got it back teh ABS light was on. Mitsubishi service centre denied any responsibility, despit there having been no problems prior to the "service". It's very frustrating to see so many other struggling with this expensive repair.
From your other post:
I drive a 2010 Lancer ES. Its just about to tick over 30,000km.
Have they diagnosed it as the ABS module, and quoted the repair?
Given it's a 2010 model, there is a possibility Mitsubishi will assist with the repair..
However I wonder what Mitsubishi's stance is - Do they consider that a wear item and it wears out over a 5 year life?
How long is the warranty?
Some data on these cases would be nice.
Let's gather some - on the ABS module perhaps gathering serial number and model numbers of these modules will help.
Along with service history - did the car get serviced every 15,000ks or at a time interval.
Any symptoms that occurred or anything that might be a trigger for it?
When did the indicator first appear - on start up or during driving / braking ?
Is it an Auto or Manual?
My gut feel is that they haven't changed the brake fluid by bleeding at the wheels.. but there's no science to that.

Yes they diagnosed the C2116 fault. The ABS light has been intermitent since the incident. After diagnosis they offered to replace the module for c. $2800. I dont have $2800. There was no offer to help to rectify the sitatution, or salvage their reputation. Thats why I came on here.
5 year warranty, expired May 2015..

See if you can answer some of my questions in the edit.
Escalate as a complaint to Mitsubishi Australia.
I assume you've had your services done at the dealer (given you are still going there), so that would work in your favour.
Here's another helpful post in this thread:

That post shows a repair having been done for $800, which is reasonable - and that post is also thus far the most helpful in this thread.

I wouldn't have a clue about the part number. To be honest I don't even know where to locate the ABS module.
I've had the car serviced since I bought it, and have had no previous issues with it at all.
The abs light came on as I was driving home from the service. I seem to recall that it came on as I was accelerating at a green light. I heard the beep but didn't notice the dash warning immediately.
It's a manual.
Thanks for any hints and tips. I hope this info is useful to you.

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
Hi guys- going to add my car to the list of affected vehicles too sadly - ABS warning light and ASC off appeared on dash - cruise control still worked though. Interestingly it has since disappeared. . .
Took the car to local NRMA Motorserve to get code read and sure enough C2116 - ABS Pump Motor Supply Low Voltage was in the fault history. ABS pump computer module has or is about to fail.
My car is 2008 model MY09 VRX. Been out of the 5yr warranty for a while - I am not sure how I'll go with asking Mitsubishi about it - has any one had any dealings with Wakeling at Campbelltown NSW about the issue? I haven't been getting it serviced there for a while, not that it should make any difference.
Failing that I will take it to the recommended place at Seven Hills for a swap out.
First problem I've had with the car in nearly 7 years - only 31,008km travelled though!
Along with service history - did the car get serviced every 15,000ks or at a time interval? Log book servicing by time interval as car has only travelled 31,000km in nearly 7 years.
Any symptoms that occurred or anything that might be a trigger for it? No symptoms at all.
When did the indicator first appear - on start up or during driving / braking ? On start up, not during drive. Warnings disappeared during a drive though.
Is it an Auto or Manual? Manual.

You could try Mitsubishi, it's travelled less than 31,000k, so you'd think the ABS module would be good for that.
The ABS module is under the bonnet, right hand side, has some steel tubes going to it and looks like a cylinder - you should see the part number, can you post that (or a picture of it).. There's obviously a reasonable number of people suffering, but likewise, there's a heap that aren't... There's got to be some means of identifying which are affected.
What about battery - is your battery still the original battery?
What if the percentage of perceived failures is high just cause of a weak battery... (dips below 9V on start up..)

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
g'day toc - it did get a new battery a year or so ago - +5 years on original battery was doing alright I thought. Sometimes it doesn't get started for over a week and even then, most trips are less than 10 minutes, so it did well to last that long.
I also recently changed the factory Yokohama Advan A10 tyres - not because they were getting low on tread, but because they were getting too old! They had started to go noticeably harder.
Given the dash warning lights have disappeared, I plan on just leaving it and waiting to see what happens. It might come back the next time the car gets started or in 6 months or in 12 months or never, who knows...!

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
I just got my ABS issues resolved.
The service light progressively started reoccurring more often until it just never went away.
Drove down to Tozzi's Mechanical Repairs (Seven Hills) who removed the parts and walked it across the driveway to Specialised Automotive Electronics for repair.
Got down there a little after 8, I made a day trip of it and we got the train to the City while things were being fixed got a call around 2:30 that everything was fixed, even got the Pink Slip done.
Overall for the ABS repair cost me $495 for the module and $250 for the mechanic side of repair (excluding rego check), heaps better than the $2600ish dealership quoted and probably last longer than a replacement.
Mitsubishi probably know roughly how many of these are bad as from talking to Anton its not just lancers but also many other Mitsu models.

+ 1 thanks for sharing your experience vi93r.
I am sure I will end up with the same blokes, who seem to the best at it in Sydney....

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
I recently had the ASC warning and 4WD service warning flash up on my dash. Was a dying battery. Replaced battery and it's now fine. Just adding my experience to the knowledge base...

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
I had this issue come up on my VR'09,all wheel sensors clean, new battery, fresh bleed lines & got the low voltage to pump error code when my mechanic put diagnostic on it,I've been putting up with it for about 4 wks so I had my mechanic send it to the place in Seven Hills 3 day turnaround from brisbane ,as others have said they charged $ 500 to repair the unit & $300 in Labour for my mechanic,I have abs again at a fraction of what mitsubishi want to charge, the only other company in Australia doing these repairs charge $700 for the fix.

Re: Help needed!: ASC "Service Required" Error
just to add to my last post the company that is charging $700 for the same repair does it through Bursons or Repco as an exchange part, however when i inquired about this i was told that none were in stock & they would need to turn mine around,so pretty much the same as the company in Seven Hills but you get to spend an extra $200.hope this helps others that WILL have this problem.
