insuring my lancer

Postby Mickyj63 » Mon Oct 05, 2015 1:40 pm

Just getting some quotes this year seems the worse
Alianz through my bank and an insurance broker are 500 bucks diff
Youi claims to be the cheapest while cheaper than alianz through my bank its reason why my premium is so dear a month get this .
You Lancer would be a car we rate as being stolen the most
my current insurer currently would be 708 a year 59 a month
Youi is 109 a month both with windscreen replacement and hire car
Alianz being the dearest at 1700 bucks a year

Lets remember I'm 52 havent had an accident in 5 years that was my fault . Lancer has never been in one .
SGIC includes my son who the day before turns 27
the search continues never thought my 2011 car would be so hard
My 2011 sx the best damn car Ive ever owned or driven !!!

Insurance is one are its good to be in the over 40 category :)
Had a few minor claims for a busted rear window in my old coupe and water damage some 10 years ago but no accidents or theft. Car is garaged most nights also helps.

AAMI is mine and it set me back just $585 last year with one free windscreen a year.

My CJ is a 2009 VRX and surprisingly my now 1993 coupe was not a lot cheaper to insure.

I should say my carport is locked up so car is locked in .
At work from 6.30 am until 3 behind a locked gate Youi said your car is likely to be stolen .
Is it my suburb
My last accident in 2011 was not my fault
I'm over 50 i drive like an oldie lol
And the companies that said 20 or 15 percent off online were even dearer
So SGIC is 708 with hire car and new windscreen at 14 gran replacemnt

You might try the compare site on the web, I used it to get my Insurance thru Coles, 247 a year, no hire car or whatever, but I'm 54, so would be about the same

No Hire Car on my insurance which is not an issue at home as I have access to a 2nd car that is running (not the coupe) but it could be valuable on holiday or a road trip.

I'm the only driver named on my insurance.

So is this thread for the older guys here? Would like to hear from the younger guys, especially those on P plates or with a RA/EVO?

Think that's the case with many but I've no need for public transport, never really used it as I've always had a car or lived in an area with no real coverage.

Even when at school it was easier to ride than take a bus, even if my school was not the closest one around.

Can't remember the last time I took a bus or train, took a Sydney ferry many years ago mainly because for traffic and parking in the city when I was visiting.

I wouldn't consider the FWD Lancer a sports car, it's ranker as a small for my insurance. The RA or EVO now thats a different story.

Definitely have to say though buying a regular lancer and insuring it wouldn't be much cheaper still cost like $1.9K per year for insurance, with bungle all this mind you, anything else for p platers are looking at like 2.5k plus
