Making scuff plates stick

Sorry did a search and couldn't find anything
I made a horrific discovery after having my car in for a service
Found a scratch in the driver door sill and it's deep
Dealer denied anything saying they are careful and they couldn't have
So I bought a set of scuff plates from chromemycar
Suggestions on applying the double sided tape for best results as normally my attempts fall off
Any recommendations. Paint is new as it's a new car but I think there's wax on the paint

Maybe try some wax and grease remover?

Sorry to hear about the scratches, the previous owner of my VRX had left some in the drivers sill around the tire plate, more like dents, not sure how you'd even do that?

Alright yeah I'll give that a shot maybe best i do just the length of the plates

What about that 3m stuff which is supposed to prepare the surface?

Normally with 3M or similar double-sided tape, it's best if you warm them up first using a heat gun or a hair dryer (heat gun works better) before installing them. Check the leveling of the plate to tape to surface - should all be in good contact and alignment. And yes, remove the wax first.

Alright cool. Will give that a shot. Dealer still insisting they didn't do it. They want me to take car down Thursday to get a quote on repairs before they even decide to fix it. And they can't do it at times Im available. I cant exactly tell how deep the scratch is. But should I bother with touch up paint or some sort of repair to the paint prior to applying the scuff plates?

I had problems sticking LEDs in the boot of my old car, turned out there was wax or something, some grease & wax remover fixed it.

Goto bunnings and buy the heavy duty double sided tape. You can use it to stick stuff to concrete walls its that good. And its reasonably inexpensive to buy. Works a treat

Should always make sure surface is free of debris especially polish, wax etc:. Metho: will usually give you an acceptable surface.

Item you couldn't stick will need new double sided tape. Bit of warmth from a hair drier can help bonding.

I know how you feel I have a nice dent in my scuff plate (Evolution ones) after a service didn't bother saying anything sucks a lot.
