JMI, you have a black VRX yeah? Perhaps the 35% would keep the car slightly cooler in summer?

I emailed a tinter, and he told me I will have a problem with scratches coz our CJ doors do not have the window felt, just hard rubber.

He did advised me to check out with my dealer/service to see if they had the channel felt replacement as he said one of his customer got hers replaced thru mitsubishi before she tint hers.

Anyone heard of the replacement? Or where I should look?
I open my windows alot, and I don't really want to risk the scratches and have it re-tinted again.

I'm already getting scratches on my privacy windows.

I'm leaning towards Tint Professor because of their warranty and it looks like they know their job well. It's $265. I'll have it done before summer and when the felt issues have been settled.

The rear glass is the one they have to get perfectly right, because re-tinting would destroy the demister.

when i bought my car i got the premium package which was some protective coating over the paint and windows tinted and something else i forget it was a while ago. but i went to Tint A Car to see how it compared to there Midnight Express tint. It was so close the guy said it wouldn't be worth getting it done darker cause it was just about as dark as legally allowed.

tint a Cars Midnight Express is what I got on my front windows and it is the legal Max in all states AFAIK.
I think 35% light transmission is the legal min for tinting here in Aust. I know yrs ago it was about 24%.

You can usually find the numbers in your states Traffic Vehicle code online.

Our privacy glass is darker than that already so you are not allowed to tint over that again.

The ridiculous low transmission tints avail for limos, rear side windows etc are only allowed on limos ,not ordinary cars AFAIK.
Also most US states prevent you tinting the front side windows at all as a security measure for the police. so they can see clearly into the front of the car during a traffic stop to see if driver is going for a weapon etc.

Was there a need to replace the rubber seals with the felt ones? No scratches so far? Cheers

Hello all, just bout my new VR lancer. Hmm, was wondering where would be the best place to get a tint done around Brisbane? Any place that is recommended?

Tint a car Milton offered me $295 (supposedly $100 off) with the felt strips - midnight express.

I got this guy from the Ozmazda forum: Peter from the Art-of-tinting. He uses 3M tints and knows about felting and can do it for $308. He is mobile but needs a double garage that I don't have so I'll have to go to his house. Very friendly and seems to know his stuff.

You'll be amazed how many people don't know about the scratching tint. I'm getting it done when I collect my car so will see how it goes.

I was just speaking to Harry @ Redcliffe and he said he'd hook me up with T20 for $100...

Has anyone gone that dark and willing to share some feedback?

Hey, that 3M stuff i hear is very good for window tint... a few mates have got it, and they have no problems at all... seems to filter out UV rays no problem!

And it looks really good, and done properly it'll last longer than the dealer's stuff :) I hope at least, seems to be so on my mates' 10 yo Pulsar... he's had the tint for that long now i think and nothing's gone wrong yet (no scratching etc.).

Top stuff that is.... and really tough too :). I'd go with that even if a little more expensive.
