Ok, no worries. Let me know if you have trouble opening it. Sometimes it can be a pain.

yeh. i agree no1 listens to alarms.

my mate tho had an alarm that sends a signals back to the alarm remote.

so if he cant hear it it would page the alarm remote if he was within a km i think.

ironically he didnt turn it on 1 day and it got stolen just outside his house.
poor bloke set him back a few gs when he was still in school. never saw it agen.

hes now a police officer lol

I don't know why but my stock Evo exhaust can set off alarms in the carpark (set off a Skyline next to me).... so just be warned uber high sensitivity is not always a good thing.

As for the tilt sensor- if you have valuable rims which are likely to be a target for thieves, it doesn't hurt to have a tilt sensor. Whilst an alarm going off doesn't lead most people to do things, if you have your car parked in the street, and someone was trying to lift your car up to get your wheels, I'm pretty sure the alarm going off will at least attract someone's eye to notice that your car is being lifted off the ground. Whether that is enough to stop them from nicking your rims is another thing :)

Ok well I've ordered a Directed Electronics (they rebadge their stuff as Hornet/Viper/Python) 3901T CAN-bus upgrade. The main module needs +12V, ground, 2x CAN-bus wires and a hazard lights wire! Reads all the door open and ignition codes from the CAN-bus rather than splicing into extra wires!!

Set me back $282 (plus $40 for tilt sensor) from the local JB HiFi!!

Will be installing it either this or next weekend! Will post some pics, but obviously I won't be giving out much info over the open forum!

Hey,

Just wondering if there is actually an alarm on the lancer, just spent the weekend away with the Pajero's and on the newer ones (08/09) even the base models have an alarm installed, you just have to 'activate' it......eg turn the ignition, left indicator..... sounds like putting in a game console cheat code.

They said dealers/anyone else at Mitsubishi knew nothing about it but it's apparently in the manual. I need to check my manual but wondered whether anyone else had heard of this??

Not in the base lancers, but the Ralliarts and Evos get one standard.

Sure the ralliart gets it? I would have thought they have the same system as a VRX.

Yes I am sure. We have set it off in Chris' hahahaha

Even has shock, angle and interior proximity sensors. And a bonnet switch.

You will find most Insurance companies wouldn't allow a turbo car to be insured without an alarm in it.

I would be interested to find out how your Alarm goes Ryan. I might have to get one myself :)
