Got my DRL lights in the mail today.
Pretty keen to get them on tomorrow.

I did notice that the manual said "MY12-onwards" so that was a bit disconcerting.

Thanks, I'm going to try it this morning.

So what is the difference with the ETACS, specific to this install? Plugs/ports are in a different location or missing altogether?

the plug location changes from pre 2012 cars because the etacs module is physically different but the plug you need is still there.

Alright, now can someone please confirm what the lights are meant to do with:
1. Headlight/position light switches turned to OFF
2. Position lights ON
3. Headlights ON?

I didn't install the interior harness as I couldn't see any free ports at all. It seems to be working, so maybe there was already an existing harness?

The DRLs are operating with 2 and 3 above but are OFF when the light switch is OFF.
Is this right? They should operate just like the position lights (i.e. are still on at night)?

EDIT: Reading through the other DRL thread, it looks like these aren't functioning as they should. Guess I need your help on the ETACS Ryan.

Hi Ryan,

Yes, you've already posted it:
http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=16129&highlight=drl

Mine matches the pre-mid-2010 one. There's already something in those ports though; they're definitely not empty.

I assume we have to remove those plugs, plug in the new harness and then plug the existing plugs into the new harnesses?
I spent a good hour trying to remove those existing plugs without any luck. There's not enough room to depress the clip and pull the plug back.....

Photo below shows the existing brown plug that I'm having trouble removing:

I also had a bit of trouble behind the glovebox when installing the DRLs in my '09 but I found the plug I needed behind the main board. It inserts upwards.

The DRLs should operate as follows:
1) Engine off - nothing (obviously)
2) Engine on, all lights off - DRLs on at maximum
3) Parkers, headlights, high beams - DRLs dim but remain on

Technically you should remove the parker bulbs when you install the DRLS, but I've seen plenty of cars around with parkers and DRLs from the factory, so I doubt it matters that much.

Did you have existing connections in both plugs?
Yes, I did find the vertical white plug as well and also can't get it out.

Any tips on how to get those nasty clips off? Tips of my fingers are in pain trying to pry them out.

That's what I was hoping it would do.
Without the interior harness, I think mine are just doing the dim DRLs corresponding to your Point 3).

Thanks.

So you had something else already plugged into those ports as well?

Excellent, thanks for clearing that up.

I'll give it another go when I have the time. Hopefully I can pry those plugs out.
