Hey Tadz,

I notice your licence plates there in Vic are as big as the standard ones here in WA.
I don't know if I would block off a quarter of my cooling intake area, just a thought.
I'd love to get rid of my front plate entirely but of course they are legally required in all Aust states AFAIK.
A side bumper mounting is the only other alternative.

The only reason mine is on that side is because part of the bottom grill is acually blocked off. so a bit extra, ie, my licence plate aint gunna hurt it. I was planning on getting the RRM side moun kit but its the wrong size for the aussie plates.

Side bumper mountings can be had quite cheap..but our number plates don't find them too well

I'm working on making up a bracket for mine, just gotta find a bit of spare time to get it sorted.

On one of the Lancer forums a guy bent his plate to contour the bumper and used velcro strips to attach it so he didn't have to buy a mounting or drill holes in his bumper. He said it worked great.

I was thinking of bending it but i never thought of velcro.

How hard do you think it would be to get the velcro off if i needed to? I dont want anything perminant..

Coz if the velco adhesive comes off no problems and wont leave a mark, im gunna do that

Velcro? Until someone works out its velcro'd and they simply pull the thing off...no thanks!

Well their only going to get one plate. Ive got reverse threaded screws that cant be undone unless you take it to the cops.

So taking 1 number plate would be useless

If they want your plates badly enough they will take them regardless of how they are attached. Not that hard to use a powerdrill or even a chisel to hit the end of a screw off in about 5 seconds.

You still have to go through the drama of getting a new plate.............

Im planning to get some slim plates soon anyway so it doesnt really bother me if i loose these plates. Bloody fugly fat things

Lol you know it. Id be pissed off if they took my slimlines when i got them...but if they took my fat ones now it would just give me an excuse to get the slimline ones now.

tadz is right about the grill being blocked off down the bottom there anyway, that's why I put mine there... it's only on one side tho, can't understand ppl putting it on the right (looking at the car front on) it DOES block a lot of the radiator if u put it there....

I wanna get a side-mount for the plate... maybe I can whip one up at work... I still don't like the idea of blocking ANY of the radiator... had bad experiences with overheating in the last car... I fear it... lol

I might try that velcro idea. Then ill take it off in say...a month and see if theres anything left there from the adhesive and if there is nothing there ill leave it. I want to side mount the licence plate so bad.
