I can't say from the info that I have now, or that I will collect if the Ford fluid is more durable. You'd have to do an extended friction test over time or something like that (I think its a 3 ball rotating friction setup) - but I don't have that kit. When the Diaqueen gets here it will be good to see which type is most similar. The info I'll provide is how similar the fluids are - people can then make their own judgement based on that.
MAP EF2 turbo , DW65 fuel pump, ID1000 injectors, EvoX FMIC, UR dump pipe, 100 cell cat, CP-E Exhaust, aFe air filter...and mud flaps!
Results are in from FTIR testing only. Note this is only one test, and I will need to do the others to get confirmation. As it stands:
Diaqueen = Ford
Motul = LiquiMoly
Martini = HKS
This is only looking at the main functional groups, an their relative expression. This cant tell you anything directly about other properties. What it does say is that these pairs are VERY similar chemically. Motul, LiqiMoly, Martini and HKS are also quite similar to each other. Diaqueen and Ford appear to have some significant differences to the other 4. I'll get some graphs up later.
Thermal analysis has been a pain in the ass. The decomposition of the fluids is exothermic, as i expected, as the esters would be breaking down. Problem is its overloading the detector so I'm finding it difficult to get an accurate decomposition point. I'll need to work on this a bit.
Visually Ford and Diaqueen look the same. HKS is the same colour as ford and Diaqueen. The other three are varying shades of yellow-brown. Photo to come later.

this is really exciting, ive heard alot of ppl say that the ford stuff is very close to diaqueen.

Hey Gary, the Ford and Diaqueen match pretty much exactly on the FTIR. Their viscosity is similar, but I don't have enough of the Ford fluid to get an accurate viscosity reading. Have you got anymore you can send? I need about the same amount again that you sent (1 more of the small containers).
