I was going some research last night and apparently some people experienced transmission failure? Im assuming they did not change the transmission oil, correct?
Also my dad has a 2010 outlander and he has had the sensors fail on him, could this happen to the RA?
Im being cautious of what to buy as I am buying my first car furthermore, a full-time University student that needs a reliable car that is AWD, preferably a Mitsubishi. My current car is a 04 outlander which my dad gave to me for completing school, it has done 338,000+ kms and it has countless problems with the addition of a massive service coming up.

the sensors dont fail no, very occasionally u may get a CEL from water or dust in a wheel sensor but its only temporary and goes away.

as for the gearbox some have had problems, this can be picked up in a road test but i wouldnt rank it as a common problem. u can have clutch problems if u radically increase the power to say upwards of 280kwatw like josh said but as stock its only 136kwatw so no problem there.

Turbo is no big deal, I have driven AWD since i have started driving, I have rarely driven FWD or RWD cars. I feel comfortable with handing AWD and I have a good idea how the car would react in order to avoid near misses.

Anyone who lives in Mackay would understand how terrible the drivers are here hahaha

Hi and (WTTC)
Ralliarts are great and fun to drive! Not much common problems with them,
I have mine for nearly 3 years now ( 2009 model) and the only big problem what i had was the turbo let go at around 70000km, but i think is the only RA in Australia who had this problem also not really sure what happen, other than that car performed and still does really good
There are a few things that may need to be change like
Tune, they are coming really bad detune from the factory and the exhaust is v restrictive! as soon as you change them you will notice a huge difference
and with little mods car will perform better
And like any other car you have to look after!
I'm doing my own work on it because the dealer didn't look after the car and mechanics are a rip off, but that is just me
Here you will find a lot of help and people trying to take you on the right track

Good luck with your buy!

Cheers,
Seb

P.S. .... i just realized you're from... Mackay lol
if you need help in person i will be more than happy to come and have a chat and also help with your buy :D
