Clicking noise when turning key to 'On'

Postby jordan.fuchs » Mon Jun 17, 2013 11:04 am

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is normal or an issue but everytime I turn my key to 'On' (not start the engine) I hear this loud clicking noise that lasts for about 1.5-2 seconds.. It sounds like it's coming from the battery/fusebox area.
Everything seems to work fine though..

Is this an issue or should I just ignore it?

Is it a repeating ticking noise from the engine bay area? Sounds like it is from your description. If so, I think its normal. I have 2 lancers and they both do it also. It stops after around 2 seconds.

Not sure what it is however.

If its the noise im thinking of, then its normal, my car does it and I've heard heaps of other cars do it. Not exactly sure what it is.

That's the airbags getting armed AFAIK... happy to be corrected though.

it has to do with the ABS/Stability Control pump. thats why it comes from the passenger side where it is mounted. it is completely normal

Yeah it's fairly normal, basically what Kal and Hoges have said above.

Even at first I was wondering what it was considering I've never heard it in any car, ever, until I got the Lancer. So when I found out it was just routine for the car I was really relieved. xD
