4B11T Evo/Ralliart Faults
hey all just wanted to put down the known faults of the 4b11t motor and evo 10/ralliart common faults please list any if not listed
Fuel Injectors (Leaky Seals)
Fuel return line (known to pop off, cable tie fix)
Fuel Pump Relay (not going into closed loop causing engine to run lean)
Spark Plugs (broken tips, lean or timing chain stretch)
Timing Chain (Stretched chain, weak chain links)
Ildler Pulleys/ Tensioner Pulley (plastic pulleys getting to much heat causing belt to jump off or snap)
Rear Diff Pins (not enough oil supply)
Slave Cylinder (due to being PLASTIC!!!!)
AYC Pump (seize in very very cold temps)
Recaro Seats (stitching coming apart)
Rattle from doors (loose window bolts)
Maf air flow sensor (dying, unknown cause)
Camshaft Cap (breaking, weak design)
Rocket cover (melting, plastic design)
Gearbox 2nd gear grind (synchros not designed right)
Conrods (snapping, bending, stretching, weak metals used)
Brake rotors (warping, harsh pads)
And lets not start on the interior squeeks and rattles, yet alone the paint
Why so many problems with such a new car, seems like mitshi made the car, they put a VERY VERY VERY careful driver behind the wheel who is scared of redline LOL, for the testing, and seems like they did not road test enough and push it to its limits, if they DID push it to its limits and test it longer they would have solved all of these problems well before the car hit the market back in 2008. Seems they just RUSHED into it
Anything else please ADD

The spark plug tip breaking off is normally caused by a poorly made fuel relay. SSP sells a pack with this relay and four others that have to do with the engine. It's best to get the pack and replace the dodgy stock ones before they cause trouble.

I dont have these problems with my car, and hope i never do "knock on wood"
im just thinking to my self why? This was ment to be the best and last evo made by mitsu...if they did not have these faults i think this car would have sold a crap load more considering the price your paying, you would not expect a $10 relay to cause the motor to run lean then blow from factory...
But yes if anyone has had faults please list them and the reason for the fault if known....hop in a evo 6-7-8-9 they dont make near as many interior noises as our cars do LOL

No squeaks or rattles in mine...just remember any cars bought second hand you really have no idea how they were treated prior to you owning them.
Want squeaks??
Drive anything Euro over 12mths old...they are definately not designed for our roads.
The Recaro thing.....they have been doing that for the last 20 years and arent obviously made by Mitsu,, they are a pretty poorly made chair and are really just a "branding" thing.
Stiff suspension ie coil overs, coils = Squeaks and Rattles long term.
