Seems our current hosting provider has provided us with a matter of days to move as they're exiting the server hosting business. The lack of notice is very disappointing.
They have been notifying customers since December, and they admit that some customers were not getting the notifications (which seems to have included us).
Unfortunately they cannot extend the cut off date of the 11th Jan since they lease all their equipment and must power off and return that equipment since they have not renewed their long term lease.
So I'll be working over the next few days to try and configure a new server and also move all our data across before the official shut down.
Hopefully I can accomplish this with minimal down time. At worst it may be a couple of days, at best a few hours. It all depends on my work schedule and other commitments.
There will be a day where I'll need half a day to freeze the database and move it across to the new server.
So if we do disappear from the internet, it wont be forever. We'll be back.
Oh well... hopefully this wont be disastrous...
