News - Deliberate Oil Slicks left on roads

Postby blade888 » Tue Oct 23, 2012 6:48 pm

Hey Guys,

Heads up for anyone doing cruises lately.

Looks like all the recent 'Anti-Hoon' news articles thrown up by ACA this year has caused some of the public to take matters into their own hands. Deliberatly spilling oil on roads commonly used by car club cruises, seems to be what they are doing.

I've heard stories about things like this in the past 2 months by word of mouth, no serious damage or people hurt stories though.

BUT.. This one hit the news as cars were actually written off with people sent to hospital.

Time for 4WD, ACD and ESC to do their stuff! But seriously, be careful guys, it's worse than water.

Probably an idea to steer clear of the RNP runs at night for a while... the stupidity of this is that plenty of families drive through this road on the day times to enjoy the National Park or go to one of the two secluded beaches down there too....

What low lifes, why would you even think of doing something like that! People could be seriously hurt or even killed through one person's stupidity!

I'm not even sure how much effect all of the ASC\traction control and AWD will have.
I would imagine it to be similar to driving on solid plane of ice.
Very dangerous.

Yea this is really bad. Everytime after ACA 'Hoon' articles get aired, one of the things I hear about is this kind of behaviour on the roads in the following weeks. Whomever these people are should be locked up. Putting families at risk who use the road as well, just because they don't like car clubs using a road, is seriously sick and twisted.

That could cause accidents with people under the speed limit let alone over it... Ridiculous.

Safety features won't help you much. If you're near the limit of grip of a car and suddenly that grip is less, you're going to slide.
And it wouldn't be like ice or sand whereas as soon as you're over it you get the grip back immediately.

What I worry about is other people seeing this article and for whatever reason thinking its a good idea too.

Why oil... At least if it was gravel or something people could see it...
Hell, put up a 'speed camera ahead' sign, that'd work.
Makes me think it could just be an anarchist type rather than an anti-hoon fanatic. One of those people that throws rocks off overpasses.
