LED's for FOOTWELLS

Hey all,

Just purchased these from eBay for like AU$16.00 for 2.

They are 30cm's and have 15 LED's. They are also flexible and have adhesive on the other side.

Gonna put them under the front foot wells, and wire it to the door light so they come on when i open the door.

Ill post some pics once i get them and install them.

I am a bit worried about anything "stick on" but if it works for you, then cool.... Keen to hear more about these adhesive strips...

hmm, I'm wondering if it is better to get the ebay led footwell lighting or the mitsubishi one? How hard would it be to wire both to the door lights?

its fairly simple really, theres just a harness behind the glovebox that plugs into your fuse box and you just have to tap into one of the wires there. OEM ones are too expensive for what your getting really. I hooked up some neon tubes in my interior and in my opinion looks heaps better..



Mine arnt hooked up to run when the doors open, their hooked up to the cigarette lighter fuse so they run all the time. Also mine are under the seats insted of under the footwell. Couldnt really get a good place to mount it so i just cut a few small notches in the carpet, ran a zip tie through them and secured the neons that way

Looks good but I don't have any of the tools to do the cutting and soldering etc. I've done electrical/microboard stuff before... but.. hmm.. $16 ebay + all the tools vs. $145 no frills.

You need very basic tools to hook up neons, you could substitute a stanley knife with a pair of scissors. The only thing i could suggest, is you pick up a pair of crimpers. Their about $5 depending on where you go.

Ofey has the OEM ones in his car, but i dont know how hard it was for him to hook them up. If anything, the ebay neons would be easier to install. All you really have to do is hook up 2 wires; one to a fuse and the other to a grounding point. Simple =)

The way ive hooked up my neons means i did very little cutting and crimping. If you remove the cup holders from the center console, you will see a little harness that has nothing plugged into it and has 2 wires coming from it, postitive and negitive. I simply cut those, and got a double adapter for a cigarette lighter and cut the wires there and just crimped the 2 together. Then just plugged the neons into the cigarette lighter double adapter and BAM, neons =)

I got 2 of those strips off ebay. They work very well, nice spread of light. The tape didn't stick very well, so I just used some 3M double sided tape.

Also, I noticed mine are a slightly different blue if you compare the 2 strips, but you don't notice unless you are looking for it. I might buy some more and put them under the front seats to illuminate the rear foot wells

Hey All, where would the closest cable to splice into so that it only comes on when the doors are opened i.e. hooks in with the room light.

I followed this how to. You can choose not to put a switch in, but if you do there is no way of turning them off.

I go to the drive in and like to leave my door open when it is warm so I needed and would recommend a switch.

I have four of those but instead they're on the door sills.
I got some pirhana bars from oznium.com for the footwell but I need to "hide" them alot better, they've been kicked off once or twice :\

those adhesive strips are very good to be hidden under the dash.
