older petrol head

Postby chris » Sun May 03, 2009 5:51 pm

G/day all, name is chris I`m retired been driving fifty years next year, sister got a lancer es last month which got me interest after i checked it out, thinking of getting a ralliart, you younger blokes might think why an old f--t want such a car, back in the 1960/70 had a competition licence did a bit of hill climbing rallying and club events, not that I`m thinking of racing again just want a smaller car with a bit of get up and go,and the awd. would be handy up the farm but not for bush bashing lol but on slippery tracks.
regards
chris. j.

Welcome Chris, anything you need to know, just ask the RA owners......They will all tell you the same thing.......It is a beast of a car (without the rawness of the evo) and with a few standard mods (even though it doesn't need them) you will get all the performance of a sports machine and without the 'busted nut-sack' looks of a WRX...... Check the garage function to look up the 5 or 6 of us with Ralliarts.....Welcome Again!!!!

If it was up to me everyone would have a Ralliart, both young and old.
Take one for a test drive I'm sure you will have some fun in it.
It is very safe on the slippery stuff, you can almost drive it in the wet like you would drive most other cars in the dry.

Let us know how you go, even if you decide against it.

You can......IF you replace the stock tyres! I still take it easy in the wet due to this problem!

Welcome chris, I can honestly give the raliart my thumbs up after test driving it for an hour.

I would have got it in a heart beat but stupid p-plate laws say otherwise and being 20yrs old will mean insurance would have slapped me silly.

Considering I'm already paying $1400 with excess at $2000 for my lancer aspire, no thanks.

Welcome Chris!

To quote the cliche 'Your only as young as you feel' :P

Go for it if its what you want, its a great drive. Just dont go overboard with 20" chromies & spinners, you'll be ok.

Now what I'd like to see are some female Ralliart owners...

I second that. I actually saw a chick driving a black RA just before I got mine. I will have to give a shout out if I ever spot her again.
I was actually thinking damn I hope they don’t turn out to be chick cars lol.

Chris, the main thing to know is that there are great bargains to be had out there in the RA world. With little to no advertising on the TV or radio (here I go again with the advertising!! :x ) these cars aren't exactly flying out of showrooms. Get on carsales.com and other car selling websites and check demo models, and some have less than 1000kms and cost under 40k out the door. Don't pay full price - Mitsu are having a hard enough time selling any of their cars generally, so don't listen to that "New type of car, and I can't knock any money off" B.S!!!!!! But, being an older petrol head, you obviously have haggled time to time in your day, so Goodluck and show us your ride when you decide!!!!!
