@ Darren - true BUT they have also been built to the cops standards (eg higher power input) as well as having a "chip"

When I used to work for holden, we had Cop SS (NSW) on our price lists. They had different tunes, different suspensions, more rigid chassis apparently.
Funny story, we service the cars as well, and some smart arse cop told the service manager that there was a rattle in the steering at 180kmh. The service manager said fine, we'll look into it. When they came back to pick the car up, the manager said they'd looked into it, but at 210kmh the rattle disappears!

Most of them are kids driving, or huge men, always 2 in the car, if u can hide from the radio cars ahead and there's no helicopters around, yd still outrun them, a lot of coppers tend to piss their pants at speed, probably where those stains came from one of the other posters noted lol

High speed chases = a miniscule proportion of the work police do. They don't need to be bugatti veyrons in a straight line. I can see how handling/stopping would be a higher priority. With the spotlight well and truly on chases in the media currently, i dont see them chasing many people doing 200kmh anyway
All bleeding stops eventually!
especially since like the media crucifies them every time someone kills themselves in a chase. even if the cops arent even there and arent their fault...
