its not mandatory but we do jarryd yes, theres usually a spare or 2 to use, but they arent very good on a cruise and are usually line of sight only unless u buy a $300 one

i have a $70 one, not too good

$100-120 from repco will get you a Uniden with 6km range. best i've had out of 3 tried
