Well I've been quoted from a few places circa $350-$600 for the roof including parts and labour in Sydney... but in this space, price varies considerably with experience and reputation.

Are you able to shed some light on removing the aerial? Did you have to undo the interior trim to remove it?

Yep you have to take the headlining off, then there's something on the inside of the roof that holds it in. I can't remember exactly sorry, it's been a while, but it's pretty obvious once you're in there.

Thanks for the tip. Would you recommend that approach of taking the lining out or precutting the vinyl around it?

Definately take the time to pull your aerial off. From memory it only took me a couple of minutes to figure it out, and it's going to look a lot better then cutting around the base of the aerial I think. Also if you got the cutting wrong in any way, you're going to have a little pice of white roof showing through. I don't know about you, but that'd make me want to pull it all off and start again :)

Defs worth a few minutes to remove the aerial.

When you say it only takes a few minutes, is that including the time taken to figure out how to remove the headlining?

Thanks!

Aha :) Yep ... I think you just remove the C-pillar covers, pull back some of the rubber edging around the doors, then there's two Christmas tree like clips holding it up there. Pull those out, and you're in.

Thanks guys. Just trying to help the guy out who will do the vinyl wrap- he's a friend of a friend. Any other tips/tricks you have for getting the roof lining out would be greatly appreciated as this is for someone who has never worked on the car, and also for me who isn't very good at all.

From memory there are 10mm bolts holding the C pillars in. There are xmas tree clips at the rear like Tim suggested.

I don't think it would need to pull it out all the way

Thanks again for the advice guys. Ended up getting it done today by Carbon Demon and Mike + Wendy did a fantastic job (and they removed the antenna for a clean install).

Here are the photos-

hey everyone,

just so you know, 3M have released a new carbon wrap product in black, white and grey and the film is actually thinner and allows more flex. it is also cheaper and has a 10year guarantee against affect by the sun. more importantly, it is also wider on the roll which means it will be easier to use on your roof and bonnet
