Capped Price Servicing
For cars purchased after 1 Jan 2010, you are entitled for capped price servicing up to 60,000km or 48 months from your purchasing date.

This will cover your:

15,000km, 30,000km, 45,000km and 60,000km services @ A$195 each time.

The capped price servicing does not include:

Those items identified as requiring more frequent attention depending on operating conditions (as described in the Service and Warranty Customer Information Booklet). • LPG additional maintenance items. • Normal wear and tear and consumable items requiring periodic maintenance
(e.g. fuses, brake pads, wiper blades, batteries, tyres, wheel alignment adjustment, etc.). • Air conditioner pollen filter replacement. • Fluids, additives and treatments not specified in the Regular Service Tables. • Accident damage to any body, chassis or driveline components.
• Adjustments not specified in the Regular Service Tables. • Additional maintenance and repairs which may be recommended by a Mitsubishi
Dealer to suit your individual driving characteristics.

For those on Capped Price Servicing:

It has been ascertained that you will NOT be able to get any money off by bringing in your own oils and filter. You can bring your own bottle of oil and brake fluids or the like and filter and ask the dealership mechanic to put them in but you will still be on cappaed price of A$195 as the reverse charge is sent through by the dealership to Mitsubishi. This has been verified by 2 dealership Mitsu mechanics here in VIC.

So does that mean if we bring in our own oils and all that, we're still charged at $195? despite not using any of their consumables? If that's the case, doesn't seem fair that they're charging us for stuff we're not using.

Yes it isn't fair but I've verified this.

The charge of A$195 is NOT the cost of your servicing, it's the workmanship really.

The remainder they have to re claim from Mitsubishi.

i guess it doesn't really matter in their case , it's like a package deal. They provide this service and product , if you don't like it , pay more to get your own products used. I reckon if you really want to use your own oil , do a flush after the service and put in what you think will be best for your engine.

I personally think that if mitsu really uses Castrol Edge , that's more than enough , even for the evo

From memory it is about 110,000kms...

How hard do you drive the car? Personally I would change it earlier. I think I changed it at 75,000kms

EDIT: Mine is Manual BTW. CVT will be different.

Ofey could you give me a price of the CVT fluid, I think it is due at 75000kms but I drive mine hard and I am at 50000kms. Last weekend I noticed it was starting to whine when hot so I think it would be best to change it early.

Your manual transmission oil should have been replaced according to the service booklet at 45,000km. It should not be due until 90,000km? Unless it was not done at that service interval? Or unless you put plenty of load onto the transmission.

However, if you do want to change the oil yourself, the transmission should have a drain plug (bottom) and a fill plug middle of the transmission). Drain it fully, and then fill it in the fill plug until the oil starts dripping out of the fill plug section.

What would be a good synthetic gear oil to replace it with?

Mitsubishi uses a 75w-80/85 if I remember correctly.

To directly match, you would probably go with Nulon Smooth Shift 75w-85. This is API GL4 fully synthetic and should do the job fine for daily driving.

Two good performance alternatives are Nulon Performance Smooth Shift Fully Synthetic 75w-90 (4L bottle), or Penrite Sin Gear Oil 75 75w-90 (2.5L bottle). Filling capacity for our transmission is 2.5L. I just bought the Nulon bottle just in case I need to top up in the future. It is also slightly cheaper.

Nulon is rated at API GL5, and Penrite at GL5/6. GL6 is now considered just as good as GL5. And they are both of the highest quality standard classification. So I say they are the best value for money.

You can also go spend hundreds on Motul Gear 300 75w-90 which comes in 1L packs. But there's really no point. Our gearboxes will never face that kind of thrashing.
