riddle me this.... what do u classify as important bits that need to b covered

mine and sleepers cars went swimming, up to the top grill and still carried on going. just blast it, everything is sealed, unless u have a pod filter

or unless u own a land rover disco 4 then u dont want to wash the engine :P

Everything appears to be sealed alright, and wouldn't seep water unless you sprayed it with a constant blast for a while. I would assume the most vulnerable areas are the air filter and electronics, but they aren't directly open.

[Edit: Only ignition coils on the CJ, so they're fairly protected]

Oh whoops, you're right. The thing the spark plugs are connected to! They're under the spark plug cover so it's all sweet.

Would you still need to protect the alternator from the degreaser? I had the impression that things start breaking down, with the risk of shorting the circuit.

i have never had or heard of any problems regarding the alternator from getting wet, specially as it is usually the lowest thing on the engine (in regards to things driven by the belt) and so gets wet when it rains, ie water splashing up off the road

GDay Joe
It\'s fine to wash down the engine bay this way
My CJ is nearly 3 years old and I have done this since day one with no problems at all
I use degreaser and a hose with no dramas
Cheers Chris.... :D

i should of asked this question myself ages ago, i normally get in the bay with a wrag and some spray cleaner and whipe down all the parts, using my Karcher will be much faster and easier!

Be careful with a Karcher maybe a normal hose with good pressure would be safer
I use a normal hose with good pressure apologies for any confusion Tate
Moisture and the degreaser wont cause damage if used wisely
Regards Chris....
