What don't I like,..........hmmmmm I hardly know where to begin.
A few improvements from Mitsu for the problem areas would be great.
As already mentioned, cheap plastics in the interior;
lack of sound insulation allowing in the terrible tyre noise.
The first 2 are just caused being being too damn cheap. The third by a poor engineering decision, again ultimately due to trying to cut costs. I would have been OK paying an extra $500 or more for some good Dynamat insulation installed properly during assembly throughout the vehicle ,better plastics and better tyres.
A few people have already mentioned in other threads the high cost of the Advan Tyres so they are not a money saver even for Mitsu.
The sun visors are the flimsiest and cheapest I have ever seen in a vehicle. My Mum's 8yo Hyundai Accent (base Model) has far better, thicker more rigid ones.
The lack of brightness of the clock/radio display in most day conditions is just poor design. Some brighter LEDs would have been an easy fix even as a retrofit for existing owners.
Lack of steering wheel reach adjustment is a big issue for many. Not for me as I have long arms and legs.
Not launching with the 2.4L engine was a real bitch for many world wide, me included. I would rather have the extra power/TQ of this engine over the 2L.
(I came out Of a Mitsu Eclipse GST turbo in the USA which is approx power equivalent of a RA)
With this CJ Lancer Mitsu had the chance to go right to the top of this market segment if they had not gotten cheap on these quality issues.
Rave reviews from motoring journos around the world would boost sales far higher than a $500-1000 price point reduction if that is the amount the above faults could have been corrected by.
Given the large Volume of cars produced and OEM wholesale prices they could have probably been prevented for less than $500/vehicle for all I know.
Instead we endlessly read how much better the interior quality,NVH levels etc are in the Mazda 3 and Honda whatever.
Penny wise and Pound foolish on Mitsu's part.
Apart from that I am generally very happy with it and I have been a Mitsu man since I was a teenager. The Lancer is my 4th one.

I don't like that I haven't had mine all this week!
On a serious note...poor visibility out of the rear window. Sorta made up for by the massive side mirrors so I can't really complain too much as Mitsi have done something about this.
I don't get the interior plastics bit...I think they are fine. Better than previous models (such as my old 04) and light years ahead of the competition in Subaru (theirs are seriously disgusting!!!!). Visors I haven't had an issue with they are fine for me but maybe they have made a few changes with the MY08 to MY09 here?
Fuel consumption in city driving is really poor, like really really poor.
My old man has had the car for a week and he said he has gotten it down to 7.5L/100km. My drive from the CBD to North Ryde every day and I struggle to keep it around the 10L/100km (usually at 12L/100km).
Road noise on motorways is disgusting - so much so that I have to pull over or slow down completely to use the Bluetooth in the car.
Not being able to change destinations with the MMCS whilst in motion - every other GPS you can. Hell you can't even change the equaliser unless you are stopped. Every other car you can change things like bass, treble, mid whilst moving. I find this really annoying.
Last of all, getting 2007 maps with a 2009 car. And having to pay the $279 to get the upated version when it is finally released later this year.
