Best place to get car serviced in Melbourne.
I'm looking into a major service for my car with a change of fluids for almost everything. As I've heard dodgy things about Eastside Mitsubishi, I've decided not to take my car there for a service? Has any member of ClubCJ serviced at a place they would recommend?

Don't believe all you hear about Eastside Mitsubishi. They do have a bad reputation, but I know them personally and they are a bunch of good guys that do generally the right thing - but have BIG limitations with their workshop.
I have watched them work and are honest enough. I have seen much more dodgy workshops.
Perhaps you could come to the workshop I work at? We do have a Mitsubishi specialist technician around But we are backed by Nunawading Toyota - RACV approved workshop. Address is 26 Firth Street, Doncaster.

Yeah either take it to Preston Motors or Hedielberg Mitsubishi. If you do go into Hedielberg, ask to speak to Tony, Im best friends with his daughter and he always looks after me with servicing. My 15k service was $96.
But if you are going to take it to anywhere, I would advise you to take your own oil and fluids because they will charge you an arm n a leg for it. I've heard stories with mitsubishi getting away with people having to pay like $70-$80 for 4.3 of semi sentheitic oil. Have a look through your service manual and compare it to your driving style and then you can make a judgement on what you need.
Mitsubishi will often try to charge you between $300-$500 for a 'major' service
Im doing my 45k service which is meant to be a 'major' serice.. Ive just done an oil change with Penrite 5w-50 Fully Synthetic $39 on special at repco and a mitsubishi OEM filter which was like $12. Waiting for pay day so I can go buy some new spark plugs which are about $10-$12 each. Coolant will set you back about $30 for the proper stuff.
Manual tranny fluid I had changed at my 30k service, Ill get it done at the 60k service by mitsu. Only other thing is the brake fluid must be changed...Ill get mitsu do to that aswell.
If your fairly handy, you can do the service yourself, but a few of the things like coolant and brake fluid I dont have an idea on how to change myself, So im either going to get mitsu to do it or get my automotive teacher to supervise me do it..

@ Tadz: Irridium spark plugs in our cars do not need changing unless otherwise seered until next major service, not 45,000km service - as they last up to 100,000km. Don't bother changing - just an inspection will do.
Now as for the brake fluid and coolant They are simple jobs which I have done as well I can teach you You just need some basic tools.
However, coolant may need to be changed to the super long life one that Mitsubishi offers now (BLUE 8 year, 150,000km as opposed to our current GREEN 2 year 45,000km one) which requires professional flushing.

oh srs? Is that why it says conventional type only?
Just saved myself $50 hahahah.
I havent seen a blue coolant in autobarn or supercrap yet, is it avaliable through them or would I have to order it through mistubishi?
and my automotive teacher showed me how to do a flush on my mums fiesta, basicly drained all the pain pipes, took the inlet for the coolant and put a hose in it and ran it all the way through the system then drained it again and refilled it...

Yea, that is one way of doing it. I guess everyone has their own ways. I drain the radiator and then bleed through the heater core, then drain the radiator again and bleed through the heater core again. That ensures no air locks and also definite new coolant. But I don't know yet how to put a FULLY new colour coolant in.
And only through Mitsubishi can you get it. The blue one is specially formulated for Mitsubishi radiators.
And yes, conventional types need changing every 45-50,000km. We have irridiums. I think 4G15 has conventional? Correct me if I'm wrong.
