HTC Desire HD vs HTC 7 Trophy

Hey guys, I am currently looking at one of the two phones in the topic title. The desire will be another $10 a month, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Does anyone have either of these two phones.

The trophy was really smooth (probably the best I've ever seen), but I have seen a lot of people disappointed with the battery life, but this could be due to how they use their phone.

Anyone care to shed any light on the situation? Main concerns are the battery life differences between the two.

Looking at the specs listed there - the Desire HD is quoting around 50% more battery life for talk time which is quite a difference...

Yeah I've been reading heaps of reviews. But I couldn't get over how smooth the Trophy was.

i have the desire hd .. and its a damn good phone much quicker processor and the battery lasts 1.5 days (i charge it nightly anyhow) and I'm a heavy user for voice calls & emails plus light browsing and a few games here and there. Hope that helps.

the only issue i have with htc phones (especially android ones) is the lack of internal memory. Even with froyo and app2sd the internal still gets used up far to quick. I have the HTC Desire (not Desire HD) and the internal memory issue is the only real bother I have with the phone. Battery life is as per expected with a big screen smartphone so I charge it every night.

I owned a HTC Desire for half a yeah and it was bloody brilliant, so the HD should be better.

HTC (any android phone) is only worth getting if you are actually going to tinker with it, otherwise an iphone 4g is better strait out of the box.

I do a small amount of tech support for the Desire and some Windows 7 (Mozart) phones and I'd be chosing the Desire anyday..

battery life would be alot better
windows 7 is locked down way too much
android is.. just better

I'll also add the desire hd screen is massive and fantastic but it also does make the phone bulkier so if you like small phones this is not one of them but it is slim for its size and feels good to hold once used to it.

the DHD comes with 1.5 GIG internal storage plus 768MB RAM
plus it comes with a 8GBG SD Card.
I have a 61 apps (according to appbrain) and only use 151MB and most of them are on the 8gb SD card along with a heap of music and videos.

also if you find your phone is a bit laggy and jerky when you first get it enable USB debugging and that will fix it.

also it took about 4 or 5 charges until the battery started to last a day and a half initially it was only half a day.

One of the biggest things I didn't like about windows 7 was the lack of personalisation that was possible.

Defiantly getting the Desire HD now.

I'm looking for a phone for my dad, has anyone used a Nokia C5 or Nokia 6303 classic, I just want a good phone that is easy to use and I have to be able to get a leather pouch with a clip.

If you're getting a Nokia to be used as a normal phone (i.e. not for downloading apps) then they're all pretty decent for the basic/core features- i.e. making/receiving calls, SMS. Do a bit of Googling to find out how the battery life performs and signal strength but in my experience, Nokia's are good for signal and call quality.

On another note, PC Suite, as crap as it may be, is one of the few programs which natively supports Lotus Notes! How I envy them!

EDIT: I'd recommend the 6303 over the C5 if it's for a simple phone user since it runs Series 40 rather than the smartphone Series 60).

It's just for my dad, upgrading from the 6210 classic - I find it heats up a lot when talking on it.

If he's been using a 6120C then he'll probably prefer the C5 then since it uses the same S60 interface.

I agree though that the Nokia 6120C phone does get hot during use. Not sure why but so do my other Nokias. That being said I do like the traditional candybar shape of the 6120C- which I replaced with the Nokia E51.
