Havent noticed the beeping noise, but i believe that is something to do with the chat.

As for the new window thing, yeah ive noticed it too. Its usually when i first come to the site and click on a thread, it will open a new window and when i click home and then go to another thread it wont do it again...Rather annoying, probley some small glitch...

I actually liked the opening in a new tab idea. You do get new windows but I've hacked the settings of my browser to force it to always open in a new tab.

Coupled with the auto refresh of the active topics, it was good while it lasted.

The beep was irritating though... .

The problem i had though, was when i opened it in a new window, when someone on chat said something and the beeping noise went off,it would change to another window on I.E, if i had multiple windows working.
