I'm interested too, sorry for the noob question but do we all (or in groups) go on at the same time or have the track to ourselves aiming to get the best possible time/experience?

. Do we buy a helmet at the place or do we need to buy one before we get there

The Stigs helmet is a Simpson Diamondback.

Will ask my friend if he interested too. He has an older Lancer and has wanted to do a track day but never was able to.

Depending on numbers, you will go out in small groups. They wont put everyone out at the same time; insurance nightmare. The more you throw out on the track the bigger the risk someone wont be going home at the end of the day.

Id prefer a winton day as in my opinion it's a much suitable track for this group.

Just to throw it out there as well: Your insurance may not cover you on the racetrack.

I dont think any insurance company would cover anything that happens on the track. I think the only time your car is covered on the track is if its a registered and approved driver training course. Best to ask your insurer if your covered or not when out on a track.

Only costs $30 at the winton fun days, no timing included but a well organised day with sensible amount of cars on the track per session, flags etc.

Timed event is around $150 with exe or Tampered, again; at winton and very well run.

Sandown costs alot more, hopefully with a group this size we can get a decent deal through the organiser.

That driver dynamics thing is all booked out till next year. Maybe if there is enough interest in a track day why not book Calder Park (the National Circuit). For a club its 6k for the whole track and if you get enough people in you can spread the cost evenly so its not too much. You can get cheaper if you book a night session (4pm to 10pm), thats only 4k. Daylight savings too so more daylight hours might work out better as a possible joint cruise early next year??

You got a choice of tracks within reasonable distance for Melbourne; Sandown, Calder Park and a bit further out you got Winton.
